Applying foundation - fingers, sponge or brush
How do you apply liquid foundation with a brush? I always put it on with my fingers and am quite honestly not sure how to go about it another way. I've heard that it looks a lot better, but Im not sure where to begin.

I am hanging my head at even having to ask this. Thanks for your help!

Well, it's best to use a sponge! Take a slightly damp makeup sponge and a dime-sized glob of foundation, and get some (not too much). Then apply it on your face in circular motions, starting from the inside of your face and blending out.

Hope that helps

Thank you. : )

I had originally thought the sponge was the way to go but then I heard all the talk about brushes and well... yeah...

All other ideas, keep them coming!

I don't think there is such a thing as a dumb question

Anyways.. often its down to preference.. or the type of liquid foundation..
I'd never apply Laura Mercier foundation with anything but a sponge.. (albeit a sponge does waste a lot of product imo).
There are others that I put on my hand to warm them up before applying them by hand..
I never apply with a brush, but that's just beause I'm lazy :p and can't be bothered to wash a brush every time I use it.

Brush or fingers, can not use sponge, they absors everything even I dipped it into moisturizers before foundation.

Dampen your face slightly, then pat on foundation with a sponge. The makeup artist who did my face for my wedding party taught me this trick for getting a lovely, dewy look.

Thessaly, how exactly did your makeup artist "dampen your face slightly"? Thanks.. I've been trying to get the dewy look without much success for a while now...

Personally, i really dont like using a makeup sponge, cause i find that they tend to absorb a lot of product, which i consider a big waste. I just use my fingers, and im happy with the results!

I think using my fingers or a sponge is too messy and they end up more on the sponge/my fingers than on my face. Since buying my Lancome foundation brush I've never looked back ... and it gives the perfect finish!

Tend to use brush or fingers. Sponges just absorb and waste the foundation.

Foundation brushes are great for that flawless sorta airbrush look. It looks so much smoother then when applied with a brush. I used to use one religiously, but now I'm an addict for Bare Minerals & the mineral foundation. The Kabuki brush is the best thing ever! Oh & out of curiousity, has anyone tried that pink sponge that's shaped like a raindrop & your suppossed to bounce it over your face with the foundation. I forgot what it was called, but I saw it @ Victoria's Secret yesterday & was curious how it worked.

I use my fingers. Do not know how to use the brush and the sponge absorb too much product.
