It is a foundation sponge that lasts very long, also the shape is made to make it easier to put on foundation.
My experience is that I used less foundation that I would normally use if I used my fingers, as for the flawless look, no streaks what so ever

With its shape, it gives a flawless application. Finding the right foundation is half the battle. The other half is finding out what's the best technique. Using a foundation brush sometimes leaves lines. Applying with fingers makes it streaky. The sponge is shaped like a ball making it easy to "bounce" around your face. By doing so, the foundation is distributed evenly and gives more or less an airbrush finish. And definitely damp the sponge first before applying for a more flawless finish!

If you want to see how it works, damp the sponge and bounce it around a piece of plastic (e.g. ziploc). You can see how the water is distributed evenly sort of giving that stippling effect without actually painstakingly stippling it.

Hope that helps!

The only thing that's not so great is that the water makes my skin dry

I've heard that it works best with liquid.

I've heard that they can last for about 6 months or so..but it all depends on how you take care of it^^sounds a bit like a baby bird..

This is the only thing I use for everything that has to do with base makeup- everything except eye and lip products. When it's dry you can't beat its coverage for powder blush and powder foundation- I tried the powder foundation when it's moist too, perfect! My skin is oily and the water it holds makes my skin look fresh and matt at the same time- no chalky texture that is very common with powder foundations. Also its pointy tip is the best thing in the world for the sides of the nose and the inner corners of the eyes and also it glides so smoothly on the cheeks when you just hold it vertically..I love it! And I've been using it for 2+ years now so I don't know where the "6 months or so" comes from..you just have to cleance it frequently

I was watching a "making of" video of the G-Star campaign with Liv Tyler, and the makeup artist was using a Beauty Blender
