I'm asian and have the same complexion and am also new to the red lipstick world. I'm still experimenting and want to try MAC "Lady Bug." But I've found that MAC "Red, She Said" is a pretty good red lipstick for me.

I love YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Muse#17. It's the perfect red for me.

I have Lady Bug, and it's pretty good ... I like how sheer it is. My coloring is very fair pink skin with freckles, chestnut hair. Has anyone tried the Lipstick Queen Sinner/Saint line?

I meant to try that line but I wouldn't be able to get it in any store here and I prefer not to have to order it online.

It looks really good on you, not a lot of people can pull that off.

I'm trying to find a non-shiny, non-glossy blood red colored lip stick. Any recommendations?

You could try NARS Fire Down Below. It's described as blood red (semi-matte formula, I think). I would agree with that so long as one realises that blood has a brown undertone, which FDB certainly has. I was looking for more of a bright blood red but FDB is a very unique and lovely colour nonetheless

Ms-nietzsche: Revlon just released a matte line of lipsticks, that are really nice. I just bought one on a whim the other day and they're very smooth, not drying but super matte and come in retro 40's and 50's reds (plus they're cheap) but you have to make sure your lips are well exfoliated, mattes show ever flake.

For me the reds that I've found that worked on my super pale neutral-borders on pink undertone skin and dirty blond hair:
Lancome: red stilleto (it looks different on everybody, it looks blue red on me but pinkish red on my friend)
Anna Sui: red #460, it's a brick red with a bit of gold in it.
Marcelle: ruby red, a dark 30's/40's red
Mac Mattene: you say tomato, an orange red.
I just dyed my hair a dark burgundy though so most of these don't work well anymore, they're too dark. I've switched to more of a bright 50's cherry red, revlon's matte strawberry suede and that looks much better.

To everyone who says they feel too clownish or uncomfortable wearing red, you should try a lip stain like benetint that will give your lips a natural rosey color. Either that or try a sheer red lipstick. Sometimes it takes easing into a bright lipcolor if you're used to more neutral one. A trick I learned at makeup school if you bought a red that you don't feel comfortable wearing is to put lip gloss on first then put the lipstick on, then gloss over it. It sheers it out and that way you don't waste it.

For those on a budget, I just bought Revlon's matte lipstick in "in the red". ($5-10 at any drugstore/supermarket) It's truly matte, lots of pigment, and despite being matte does not dry out lips but leaves them feeling moist, just not shiny.

Now my only problem is working up the nerve to wear it in public/to school. I'll put on dramatic lip color at night when I get home and I love it but I have no balls when it comes to wearing it outside my home.
