Guilty Scents
The Favourite Scent post inspired me to post this one.
Guilty Scents - confessions of liking scents that aren't cool/classy etc.
__________________________________________________ ________________
So... admit it: what scents you like but are a wee bit abashed to admit to.
__________________________________________________ ________________
i confess, i like the smell of:

Polo: b/c it was the scent my 1st b/f - and it just triggers warmth.

Old Spice: b/c my darling grandpa wore it - it's comforting.

Coty Wild Musk: b/c it was the first scent i bought - i was 13 - links to all the good times i had as a young new teen and the 80's.

i wouldn't wear any of them - i just really do like their individual scents - although specific memories may not particulary come up - just good feelings will come up.

that's so not off topic

i like the smell of the interior of a new car - what's up w/ that?
and... old-fashioned face powder - my granny used that.
and... the smell of petrol.
and... dirt!
Demeter has some nifty perfumes.. including those that smell like: pumpkin pie, dirt, grass - i'd be surprised if they didn't have vinyl.

I the smell of babyskin (actually I think I like the smell of baby milk burbs..and scent that develops from that on a babys skin),
the smell of sulphur/brimstone (the smell of a match just exstinquished..I'm guessing its the sulphur/brimstone scent Oceanharlot is loving too),
the smell of burned fir,
the smell on ones fingers just after having picked the green stem/stalk of a tomato,
the smell of forrest just after rain,
the smell of gløgg (a warm spiced redwine),
some people's have the greatest smelling scalp (I know it isn't their shampoo..because when I tell them their head/hair smells great they say they haven't washed it in a couple of days)

definitely love the smell of some people's scalp
love my moms and my dads scalps
and my hubs neck too...

you guys are coming up with some beautiful. interesting and poetic ones.
they inspired these remembered smells too:

rain about to fall - or rain just having fallen on warm asphalt in the tropics.
fields of sugar cane burning
or
fields of neck-high tall grass burning

matches are interesting.. i don't necessarily love the smell... i do rather like it though, come to think of it.

Oh! here's another one...
does anyone else out there love to smell books?
crack open an book and inhale the pages...
especially old old books - old-fashioned bound books?
i remember the smells of some of my childhood books.. they were lovely.

I do that... I had no idea others did as well.

Apart from the typical ones (after it rains, moved lawns, etc.)
My "baba," which is a blanket that I was given when I was born.

that is so sweet
that you still have that blanket

i'm guessing your parents must be especially nice
to have kept it for that time too
or to have let you keep it...

very sweet

and also
neat that you like to smell books too
thought me hubs and i were one of the very few...
i wonder how many secret book sniffers are there out there?
hmmmm
