Holiday/Festive Makeup
With holiday events happening right and left I find myself wanting to wear some sparkle... I purchased Hard Candy gold glitter shadow ($6 at Walmart) to wear on my eyes. It does the trick, but is not as potent as I'd like. I'm looking for something less sticky but also more affordable than, say, MAC. But I've never tried MAC's pigments so maybe I'm really missing out...

I also saw somebody wearing sparkle lip gloss and thought it looked so fun. I don't care if I'm 27 - I love sparkle.

What festive makeup looks are you going to try/wear this season/for an upcoming event?

Here are some inspiring looks...

I'm not really into full-on looks, esp not for Christmas...I usually don't even wear makeup in the holidays And I really dislike the Danish Christmas parties, it's all about getting drunk and I hate the traditional Danish food (green cabbage cooked to death with cinnamon and sugar, anyone?)

BUT this look is so gorgeous...really understated, but very very pretty:

Are Danish Christmas parties just like Norwegian julebord?
I love that look too^^ I'm gonna steal one of those pics from my local H&M and put it on my wall

I love a red lip, The Ida.

I always find Sephora's holiday catalogs to have some festive and inspiring looks for the season.

MAC's pigments aren't all that expensive (under $25, I believe) and I think they are really worth the $$$. Nothing has the payoff they do and it would take you 10 years to use up the entire thing. ( so make sure to get a color you really like)

I also don't do anything all that different for holiday makeup.I just make sure to use a good primer to keep it on through all the partying.

New Year's Eve is the only holiday I get disco-balled up for. :p

^ I guess to me anything above $20 is expensive. I know the going rate for things, but I am mostly frugal except for a few splurges I make, like for Benefit High Beam or NARS Orgasm. I grew up in Iowa, what can I say!!?

I haven't tried the MAC pigments so maybe I'd really be impressed..

I would first go sample one at the MAC counter. They are a loose and very pigmented powder that can be hard to work with.

I have actually split jars of it with a friend before, and I still haven't finished my half.

I am loving the red lip for the holiday as well.
Can anyone recommend a good red lipstick for a natural redhead? I have the same hair/skin coloring as Julianne Moore.

The Make Up For Ever Glitters are only $13 at sephora.com, maybe you could try some of those.

How does one wear glitter seriously? I always feel like a day shift stripper.

Very minimally? I don't wear it myself so I can't really say.

Pixiwoo has done some tuts, I think they use glitters in a very tasteful way.

Sticking to natural/neutral colors helps. I've been wearing gold, and with my strawberry blond hair it doesn't look too out-there - I even wear it during the day sometimes.

I bought Hard Candy Eye Candy at Walmart last week and may just continue to use that:

Here's what the silver looks like on (this isn't me):

The Daily Cookie

I just can't figure out if I should simply layer it on top of a primer, or over shadow (I have mostly only powder)?
