Judging by the pics I'm assuming the MUA used gel eyeliner with an angle eye liner brush (the fine tipped one) and getting the precision right is practice and a lot of cotton swabs. I've been lining my lashes for a couple of years now and even I have my moments but most of the time I can do my eyes perfectly lined in most styles.

As for technique what I like to do is to start lining halfway/the middle of my lashline and winging it out in a fine line then I build it up depending how thick I want it, its better to start of thin for obvious reasons. Lastly I line from the inner corner of my eyes to meet where I first started. If that made sense...

I'd recommend you to slightly pull your eye outward, and make tiny dots and then connect them

try to use this brush

and make sure it's fairly wet (and not dripping wet, otherwise you'll mess everything up)

[sorry my english is not the best]

That looked easy...and then I tried to do it myself. I don't understand where I'm going wrong 'cause you can call my liner wings anything but perfect

^What part of it didn't work for you? I think using a thin liner brush rather than an angled brush is helpful.

I just did it with my Guerlain liquid eyeliner, and it worked really well. The brush is thin and flexible though...

^yep, I agree, I do it with the attached wands that come with the liners, not with a separate brush.
It's pretty easy, well easier than doing it all by yourself at least

When I close my eye, the eyelid becomes very creased (and so does the sellotape) and it's impossible to draw a straight line then

In the beginning of the vid she does say that you should do this with your eyes open.

I tried this and it didn't work either... If you apply eyeliner with you eyes closed, don't your eyelashes get in the way? I really cannot do it with my eyes open, even when I look down in a mirror, my lashes are in the way!
So I always do it with my eye closed, and I always have to do it at least 3 times before I get it right .
