Laser Eye Surgery
I did a search for this but found no posts.

Has anyone had laser eye surgery? If so, how was it? How is your eye sight? Would you recommend it?

I'm considering getting it because I'm annoyed with glasses, and don't like to wear contacts. Just trying to gether more info now.

I have *raises hand*. The best 2.5K I've ever spent. I got glasses in 8th grade, was terribly embrassed and hated them. Got contacts soon after that and wore them for 8 years getting occassional irritation every so often. Then I got some cornea issue where contacts were making my vision blurry so I had to revert back to glasses for a year. When my vision returned to normal (it took 3-4 months) instead of risking the same problems with contacts I just decided to get the laser surgery.

Now my vision is not 20/20 after the surgery, it is like 30 or 40/20 and if I wanted to I can get glasses in the weakest prescription (like 0.5 diopters or something) which can help my night driving. But I really don't need them unless I wanted to read very far road signs at night. It's almost been a year since my surgery and I have no complaints. I would definitely recommend it, the procedure itself takes 5-10 minutes or less but it is rather uncomfortable, not painful at all though. They said most people return to work the next day but you are to wear dark sunglasses indoors and out for 1 week's time. Also you have to put 2 types of eye drops in your eyes a couple times a day for a few weeks. All that stuff is minor compared to being able to look at the alarm clock at night and not having to deal with glasses or contacts.

If you have any more questions please feel free to PM, I'll help as much as I can.

Go to Kathy Griffin's official website....
if you want the other side of it.
She had a very bad experience and tells all about it.

I don't mean to scare you, but want you to be informed.

I really want to do it. I wore glasses since 7 or 8 years old, and I've been wearing contact lenses for 5 years. I have no problem with contacts, but sometimes it gets a bit annoying, like when you go camping with friends or when you are in a room with air-conditioned, just to name a few...
But I have to admit I'm a bit scared...

Thank you all for the input!

I want to get eye surgery too...I just cant stand my glasses slipping off my nose and having to clean it...and contacts Im too scared hearing that it might slip towards the back of your eye ewww. I want to get eye surgery because I want to see again! I can see but not far away though I would recommend you to find a famous eye surgeon to do that. I dont care if it cost extra I rather have someone do it who is famously known to do good. Like on Dr. 90210 I think his name was Dr. Robert Maloney I see him on tv several times in different shows But I do want to get my eye sight done.

OOooh me too, I'd love to get this done one day. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7... it would be such a relief for me.

But I personally know of a bad experience, a friend of my parents' had it done, felt great for a while, and then suddenly one day her eyesight started to regress back to what it had been previously, at an alarming speed. Like, every few hours it would be worse. But apparently the risk is only one in a million... and at least nothing worse happened!

Anyways, since I'm still 22 and you're supposed to wait until your eyes are fully developed - I've heard late twenties being the age when they stop developing - I hope that science will have progressed even more by then.

That doesn't happen, I can assure you. Eye-balls are protected with some kind of muscle, nothing goes beyond that. I'm not in that area, maybe someone with more knowledge about this can explain you better... like i said, i've wore contacts for 5 years and the worst that happened was the lense "stuck" under the eyelid, but it didn't slip!
