I personally love MAC foundations and lipsticks. I used to use MAC Mineralize Satinfinish foundation, but now I use Studio Fix Fluid ... I've tried other brands and just keep going back to MAC.

^^I don't use foundation, but everybody loves Chanel...I don't think you can go wrong there except that the shades are not very pale.

Some MAC eye shadows are good, some are hard and chalky and practically impossible to blend...and I must say that I'm never buying MAC lipglass again after I found GOSH lip glosses. Exact same product for less than half the price. Some people like their gel liners, I think it transfers and smudges quite a lot. Their eye shadow bases are good though.

Maybe you should check out Shale eye shadow? Google it for swatches, there are a bunch

What would you recommend for foundation? I heard from a tutorial on youtube that Chanel does good foundation. And foundation is what i will be buying. Because i have basically got none left/need more and i want to buy quality makeup, not crappy rimmel stuff that doesn't even look nice or last!
You're welcome. Yes, I think Chanel is good. I wear Makeup Forever Matte Velvet as I'm hard to match. My skin is really clear right now & I'm sure part of the credit has to go to my foundation I wore Prescriptives for many years & now they're gone ... but I did read that if they made a custom formula for you, you can now get it from the website.

I don't wear much eyeliner, and wear Chanel when I do, but I wear almost nothing but MAC eyeshadow. Better than Chanel for me--I find Chanel over-pigmented.

If your eyes are brown, try Idol Eyes. MAC also has lots of great purples.

PS If you're looking for concealer as well, I think Cle de Peau is the best. It's expensive, but should last you well over a year.

thanks again. I will test the makeups before i buy, but i think i'll go with Chanel for foundation/concealer and face and mac for eye shadow. From what I've read/been told by people here. I'll let you know what the results are!

And as Ida said, their eyeshadow bases are the best. Try out the paint pots. If you're fair, painterly is the perfect base for any eyeshadow. This stuff does not budge. Groundwork is nice too, it's a bronzy light brown that you can wear alone or under makeup.

Is anyone else madly in love with all of the 'Semi Precious Eyes - Mineralize Eye Shadows'? I just got 'Hint of Sapphire' and 'Blue Sheen' and I love them! I hadn't bought any MAC products in ages because I only like their eye shadows and thought they were overpriced and not that good but ugh, that new collection is stunning and I want all of it

All colors were selling out really quickly in the stores here, the first store I went to only had one color left and the other one only had 1 or 2 of each left. I LOVE very bright and bold eye shadow. I wear mostly black clothes and have boring black hair and brown eyes so it's the only touch of color on me

(i guess i'm in the minority who thinks chanel foundations are awful!)

mac is definitely my favourite which says something as i have a complexion which doesn't really get catered for by other brands. i use their studio fix fluid and mineralize skinfinish on a daily basis, adore their blushes (fleur power especially!), but the thing that mac owns hands down is the lipstick. their shades are out of this world, and so much more individual. i'd recommend see sheer if you want something subtle, or impassioned for something a little more bright.
