For me, personally, it's the ingredient list. The Everyday Minerals has just 4 ingredients, all natural, which is why I'm even considering it, when I've never worn makeup. I look at the list on the back of most makeups and it's honestly frightening. I have sensitive skin and a lot of health problems, and I don't need to be putting anti-freeze and carcinogens and plastics on my skin

I've heard that it can look and feel lighter and more natural than any liquid...don't know if that's true though.

^ Liquid makeup blocks your pores. Mineral makeup doesn't. It lets your skin breath.

I got my Everyday Minerals starter kit today and cannot wait to try out the full sized products tomorrow. The Premium Kabuki brush is extremely soft--WAY softer than the Bare Minerals. I'm very impressed. Is it just me or is the Finishing Dust not as oil absorbent as the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil? I noticed my T zone is semi shiny by the end of the day, compared to when I used Mineral Veil...Any advice on how to keep my T zone shine free the whole day?

I got my free sample kit from Everyday Minerals yesterday and will be ordering the full products as soon as I can, I loved them!

As I said before, I never wear makeup. I've tried liquid foundation about 10 years ago and loathed it...wore powder by itself a handful of times and hated the feel and felt like a freak. The most I ever wear now is a little eyeshadow and colored lip gloss a couple times a year.

My skin is really pretty good all on its own - I think so at least. I have some blemishes, but they're not glaring. My fiance and friends often tell me I'm lucky that I don't have to wear makeup. And it's true, I don't have to wear it. But I think I want to now

I got the Fair Cool foundation in matte and semi-matte, and the Medium Cool in semi-matte, the multi-tasking concealer, blush in Natural, and the kabuki brush. Just looking at the colors in the containers, I went with the fair cool in matte. Medium might be good in July, when I've been to the pool, but is a bit too dark for the rest of the year. And while I don't have oily skin, which is what they recommend the matte for, I really don't want to sparkle. The matte isn't dull either, it just doesn't look as glittery.

Anyway, the brush is fantastic. I've never used any other kind of brush, so I don't know the difference, but it was SO INCREDIBLY SOFT. And I had been apprehensive about the shape of the kabuki (my mom got the regular premium brush with her kit, but hasn't tried it yet) I plunged right in and found it rather fun

I only did one layer of the foundation, and buffed some concealer in a few small places, and just a hint of blush (the natural touts itself as bringing out your natural rosy cheeks - I was skeptical as it looks rather dungy in the container, but it works!). I had to rebuff my forehead after looking in a brighter light, but other than that it was really easy to apply and left my skin looking absolutely flawless, while retaining the "no makeup at all" look I like and am comfortable with. And I couldn't feel it! I also have very fine blonde down on my cheeks here and there that's usually practically invisible, but which normal powder clings to and shows up. This didn't.

I wore it out and it wears really well. Wind and rain and lots of walking around (heat might do more damage) and 8 hours later it still looked just as perfect. I have a 13 year old brother who is having troubles with his skin (mostly because he's lazy) and is at that very bitchy and super critical. He points out EVERYTHING that's wrong with any one else's looks, as though he's going over you with a magnifying glass. I asked him if it looked like I was wearing makeup. He said no (he doesn't like it when girls wear makeup, but we're all supposed to be naturally airbrushed . I said I was, and he looked closer - a lot closer lol - and exclaimed that my skin looked "fantastic" and "perfect" and "really clear, so much clearer!". I think he was jealous

So anyway, really really recommend the Everyday Minerals. My skin did feel a *little* dryer than usual last night, after my shower, but that could also have been from the blustery day. I'll have to be more diligent with my moisterizer.

Because of all the positive comments about everyday minerals,
2 months ago, I took the plunge and I also got the free samples (this came free with my purchase of 3 brushes- which turned out to be so-so but very handily sized)
Unlike most of you who have tried BE before, I have never tried mineral makeup. And I don't even apply foundation for that matter! Its always moisturizer and sunblock and maybe atouch of blusher and concealor.
EM applies smoothly and evenly.tho the sample containers are a pain to use especially when the powder gets everywhere since there is no sifter that comes with the sample containers. I bought medium beige in semi-matte and matte. I like that there are options for different degrees of matte-ness! , unfortunately, the light colors didnt suit me at all (i'm asian with a slight tan)medium beige was great though. Generally, the coverage is good for the first few hours, but by the end of the day, it feels as if most of the powder has "disappeared" and this is not because the powder is light-weight., but rather, the powder sort of dissolves into your skin. For a barely-there face, i think this is perfect. The concealor from EM is also very gd.
Yesterday, i bought the full set of the correct color from everydayminerals.com.I also got some M.A.D minerals (www.madminerals.org) due to some gd reviews in MUA. and I also got some Palladio herbal foundation (rice powder and 2-way cake)
hope its the right shade!

Is everyday better than BE?

Because I'm currently using BE but feel that I don't get enough
coverage and I have to re-apply every 3 hours which is such a hassle.
Plus I think my skin is getting irritated from the mineral veil.

Everyday Minerals was better for me because it didn't make my face itchy (whereas BE did). I sit in an office all day and normal makeup would just melt off in 4 hrs - but the intensive formula for EM is lots of staying power, & feels as light as the others. I highly recommend the "balancing powder" for those with oily or combo skin. It keeps me shine free w/o feeling dry. I recieved the sample 2 weeks ago and the little jar is still 3/4 full.

alot of EM users say they switched to EM becos they do not get a reaction to it (itchiness/acne) however, the semi-matte EM mineral foundation doesnt have much staying power for me.
in anycase, you can get free samples from EM- just pay for the shipping. The cs is very good.

Voodoo Mary - EM has fixed the problem with the sifters in the jars. I heard somewhere, can't remember where, that they were listening to complaints and redesigning their jars, so I waited to order my full size products until the new jars were out there. So much easier to use.

EM also now has 'Everyday Minis' which are fantastic, especially for trying eyeshadow colors. The mini eyeshadows are $2.50 I think, and contain tons of product. The cheaper minis also allowed me to try the sunlight color corrector, that hides the dark circles under my eyes, and a new blush (Nick Nack) that I wasn't sure of, but wanted to check out - I didn't feel like I was wasting money.

I do like the matte foundation formula best, even though my skin is already on the dry side. The semi-matte is almost sticky and too shimmery. And I'm not as thrilled with the premium kabuki brush after I washed it (followed directions, it's just not as soft anymore) but I like the other brushes I have.

I recently ordered their makeup bag and am pleased with it, it's very small, but I don't have much makeup

Has anyone here tried PureLux minerals?

I am currently using BE and for the most time I am satisfied, but sometimes I think I apply it wrong because it ends up looking cakey O.o And magnifies my pores. And then other times I apply it and it looks great! I am not so sure what I doing different each time either.

Also, I got BE in light and it's too yellowy for me. I thought that I should get it in fair, because I thought my skin had more pink undertones rather than yellow, but the sales lady reccomended light for me and I figured she would know best. I don't even use the "light" foundation that was in the starter kit, I use fairly light. I only use the light foundation on certain places (cheeks and forehead) and I don't use much at all..to give sort of a...warmer look to my pink skin. But most of the time I just don't use it at all.

But I am absolutely in LOVE with my blush I got from BE, it's absolutely the perfect shade!

But basically, I am fairly happy with BE but I am always open to trying other lines, I have heard good things about Pure Lux and was wondering if anyone here has tried it.

^ Please do voodoo_mary
I've been interested in pure lux too.

I don't like BE anymore, gives me a dry look. I'm going to try
JI and pure lux next.

MAD Minerals

YAY!

i got my loose mineral powder samples from M.A.D Minerals (MM) last night.
I applied today. And here’s my feedback-
initial feedback: on application, the MM mineral loose powder goes on REALLY smoothly and easily. compared to Everday minerals (EM) which looks as fine as powder; MM actually looks lumpy. BUT MM applies much better than EM for some weird reason..and it's actually finer tham EM...its amazing. It just disappears into your skin. Inspite of this, the coverage is great and my pores don’t feel clogged up. The finished look is very matte. I have oily t-zone, so this is a big sticking point for me when selecting the right product.
The owner, Barbi also enclosed a "how-to" sheet explaining the application methods for each makeup- loose powder, eye shadow, lipstick...
(i had no idea mineral powder can be used for multiple purses- lipstick, cheeks, concealor.. hair highlighting etc etc)
I also got some blush samples – also mineral powder. I dusted my cheeks with it. Again, Barbi had earlier said in an email that her powders are highly pigmented, so just a touch of powder makes a huge impact.
I think in general, while loose powder may vary from brand to brand, the real difference lies in the application. I used a kabuki brush I got from EM to apply the MM powder as foundation. Then I used a eye shadow “sponge” to apply EM’s “light” powder as a concealor. BIG mistake.
The under eye area now looks drastically pale as compared to the rest of the face… oh well- I learnt my lesson now- never use a shadow sponge!

Another great find was the eyeshadow mineral powder called “Merlot” I think this is one of the newer holiday colors offered by MM. Its really really nice.

I also experimented applying “Tropical” – a blusher mineral powder on my lips which had some v pale pink anna sui lip gloss. The effect was rather nice. But the powder has a v drying effect on my lips and made my lips looked even more lined… so I just layered with more lip gloss!

I would definitely buy the shadow colors and the blush colors again.
Now I’m just going to monitor my skin situation to make sure I don’t breakout in acne…
