I dont think i'll put too much pressure on myself this year. I HATE the gym with a vengance, so im waiting for a new sports centre opening in spring, because they will have a dance studio and DANCE is my passion. I am also re-starting to apply the Southbeach diet technique to cut down on sweets, and lose weight eating healthily. This i know i can stick to, rather than something that i know in a few months i'll not even think about

I didn't go the gym today and I know I should have
I find it really hard to go to the gym alone here because it's so small and there is only one eliptical machine (which is the only machine i like as i get a good workout and don't die of lack of breath) and if someone's on it I don't know what to do. Plus usually there are guys in there doing some sort of work out and that scares me. Although I know these are just excuses.

It's weird because usually every year around new years I feel the motivation and i talk to myself about what I want out of life, etc. etc, and how I should go to the gym but this year I just don't have that. I don't know what to do. I need some motivation.

mehg, can you ask a staff member at the gym to help you break the ice with da guys? Most gyms have rules about letting people "work in" which means that if I do one set and you are waiting, I have to let you do one set before I do my next set. You might need staff to help enforce that.

So, no excuses tomorrow, right?

I had a pretty good day. I danced around the house to music like a maniac this morning and that counted as exercise! I had pretty good food today and cooked a delicious and nutritious dinner for my husband and myself. It's always a good day when I cook something for dinner (as opposed to heating something ).

Only low point was several hours at the doctor's and now it seems I have to see a specialist.

well ia m glad to see that everyone is trying to keep their new years resolutions... And i am so glad to see everyone supporting each other, I think with the support of you guys (and ladies) my new years resolutions will be easier to keep. in fact i was tempted to break a little tonight but i just got online and saw everything you all had to say and am now feeling stronger... Thanks so much i needed that burst of encouragement and reassurance that others are changing too!!! it makes the urge to cheat and break less when you know others are making effort too!!!

I went to the gym today! For the first time in like, forever. I started off pretty slow. I just walked briskly (power-walked, you might say) on the treadmill for 40 minutes. I did break a sweat, so I think I got something accomplished.

I'm home for break and my mom bought me a temporary pass so I could tag along with her at the gym. I like having my mom involved because she makes me go!

Unfortunately our gym here is super low key so no staff or anything but tomorrow i'm going to go no matter what.

Good job HBoogie, my mum is like that too, and just having a parent force you to do something can be such a big help.

I can't really do anything strenuous for a while, so I'm waiting for a few weeks before kicking into my excersize plan!

Right, I went to Weight Watchers tonight and am very motivated to do this once and for all. They have a two week eating plan as sort of a jump start and so I'm going to concentrate on that. I like it because it as LOTS of choices for each meal and different categories within each meal. They also gave me an exercise DVD but no DVD player.

Today i didn't use my car to do the school run, i took a cab in the morning to take the children, then walked back home. it took me 20 mins altogether, and i stopped at a local store to buy some fruits, canderel and fresh juice for breakfast.

On the way to collect my son, i walked to the nursery and back with him. I was quite proud of myself, and it wasn't as painful as i thought it would be.

That's the spirit, GucciGirl!!! I'm trying to be consistent about the little things and hoping it all adds up to some big changes. Today was a good day!

just to let you all know esp. anyone reluctant to get out there and exercise, i've never worked out before, im normally a lethargic slug during the day, and i started lifting weights 30 min a day and ive never had so much energy, its very revitalizing and you feel so proud! it helps to workout to some good music too like ladytron. i think its a beginning of a whole new life for me..

Great job Smash, OGG, and tealady!

Today i wanted to go the gym late at night but then everyone returned from their trips and the gym was full and I just wasn't in the mood for it. I know I should have but didn't go. Not a good day for me

Good job, smashin! Sometimes, like mehq, I have trouble getting myself to exercise. However, I almost always find that if I force myself to start exercising, I do feel better afterwards.

In the meantime, I'm making good food choices and drinking lots of water. I can feel the difference. My goal for today and tomorrow is to eat NOTHING when I am at the computer. I'll post on Wednesday whether or not I've been successful. So please, hold me accountable, in case I don't post. Thanks!!!

Nope, I didn't make it! So, my goal for tomorrow is NOT to eat anything at the computer!
