I found a recipe for sugaring the other night, and I've been curious about it ever since. It's allegedly less painful than hot wax with the same result.
2 cups sugar (I've heard white or brown)
1/4 cup lemon or lime juice
1/4 cup water
Heat to a caramel color that like in candy-making, will make a ball when dropped into a cup of water and not dissolve, then cool to body temperature. In Persian waxing, you spread it on and rip off in the opposite direction of hair growth with a strip of cotton or muslin. But in sugaring, you make a ball with the stuff and rub it in the opposite direction of hair growth (The ancient form of Persian waxing, apparently).
I just posted something almost identical to this in another thread about types of waxing a few days ago, but I have not tried making a ball out of the ingredients and rubbing it in the opposite direction. I wouldn't be willing to waste the sugar wax I have now to try it, though (it would get dirty).
