Threading

Have any of you guys been threaded? It's a form of hair removal used by a long piece of thread, it's twisted, and is rolled against your skin to remove hair. It's very clean, and doesn't remove skin, just hair. Anyways, I have been threading for a while, and then stopped, because the drive to the threading place took too long. Since I have discovered a new threading salon near my home, I went to have my brows, chin, and upper lip threaded. Well, things were fine, until I started developing acne between my nostrils and upper lip.. and it looks awful. I have like 3 pimples there.. and they're so hard to hide, espcecially in that part of the face. Has anyone had trouble with this? I'm 30 yrs. old, and haven't had this much acne above my upper lip before; it's embarassing. I am currently using BCP's which have cleared up my skin, up until now. I was wondering if anyone knew how to remedy the acne problem, at least. This has never happened to me before. I have threaded the same area in the past, and I have never broken out. Anyways, thanks for any of your help!

I used to have my eyebrows threaded all the time. Not lately becuase I moved and I can't find a place in my area that does it. My skin never broke out before. Except that once, I went to a different place and my skin got irritated. It was bright red for three days and very itchy. I never went back to that place again. I think it had to do with the type of thread the stylist uses and how good they are doing it. This lady would yank the hairs in the opposite direction of their growth and it hurt SO much! Needless to say I never went to that place again!

You might have an allergic reaction to the type of thread she's been using on you, or her tecnique isn't that good making your skin break out.

I dount knwo any thing about "threading", but it soudns liek your new place may be useing some thing that gives you a reaction , if this never happend before

perhaps they are ingrown hairs? maybe try tendskin as an exfoiliator to stop ingrowns

my skin is oily so I tend to get those problems. Don't be skeptical about this, I've been using rubbing alcohol for years. It really dries your skin if you overuse it but if you only apply it to the problem spot, it works better than anything. Do it like at night and in the morning it will work for sure.

Hm..they aren't ingrown hairs, all I know is that the area between my lip and nostrils are (moustache area) is very sensitive. I have been breaking out.. whiteheads, especially, and it looks really gross. I'm going to try the alcohol thing. Thanks guys!

Well, I figured out why I was breaking out.. it's because I'd apply makeup over the area that has been threaded.. which in turn clogs pores, causing pimples. However, since I stopped doing that, I haven't had any acne. I haven't experienced any side effects. It's supposed to be better than waxing, and better for your skin.

Ouch! I went and got threaded today and let me tell you, its painful as hell. I have fine hairs around my cheek area (you know the sideburn area and down) and I had them all removed by threading today and it was very"ouchieful". However, it was very well worth the pain. The skin on my face is extremely soft and smooth.

I had little bumps on my face when I first got it done but about a half an hour later the bumps went away. I was just wondering if anyone here does it and how often they have to go? Also, sheesh its cheap!

Usually I go and get my eyebrows done at the salon (waxing and tweezing the strays) and it costs about $22.00. Today I got threaded on my entire face (cheeks, chin, upper lip) and I got my eyebrows shaped/threaded for a grand total of 17$.

Anyway, I really liked the place I went, I liked the price, I just didn't like the pain but I would do it again. I thought better to do it today since someone told me that my skin might be red and irrated for a few days and I need flawless skin on the 27th of the month.

A question to those of you who get threaded.... how long do you wait until you put makeup on or cream!?

Its this salon off of Cote Vertu close to the large Jean Talon and across from the Ultramar. I don't know the name of the salon because my sister usually goes there. I go elsewhere for my hair.

The place is small but its very friendly and freaking busy as hell! I can get you the address if you want!
