There are a lot of plant based foods that have more calcium than a glass of milk. Maybe someone can give a list of them, I can't remember off the top of my head.

Read this on a minimalism website: mnmlist.com

Meat. Many people believe they can’t live without steaks and burgers. And I was one of them. These days, I’m not only vegetarian, but mostly vegan. And it’s not that hard to change, if you do it slowly. It’s also healthier and better for the environment — meat and dairy animals are tremendously harmful to the environment and a huge waste of our natural resources.

Bill Clinton is a vegan now, it's so nice to see public figures like him stand up and talk about how it's a much healthier way to eat and live. I hope more people get on the band wagon.

I think it's a different story when you have to do it versus choosing to do it.

For example, Paul McCartney chose to be a vegetarian yet Ringo Starr is "allergic" to meat and doesn't eat it. .. That might be a bad example, but eh, eh?

Having been on both sides of the story, in terms of the Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr comment, I can tell you it does suck to be forced to eat like a vegetarian. Although having out grown my allergies to meat I am now happy to say its a lot nicer being a vegetarian when you choose to be one, not when you have to be one.

I don't know if this was directed towards me, but Bill didn't have to be a vegan, he actually did choose to eat this way. Yes, it was partly due to his quadrupal bypass from eating so much meat and fattening dairy but he also made a concious choice to try the diet and found out he actually likes it an feels better on it. No one ever said he had to be vegan, he could have kept eating the way he was prior to his heart surgery.

i have wanted to become a vegetarian so long ago, and i proposed to my parents that when i become 18 i was going to, but i realised is not that easy as i thought, since i'm living with my family is hard to watch out at every meal i have wondering if there is meat in it, besides my dad that is the one who cooks at home and he does not approve of someone having special food made just for them, and he does not approve either that because someone does not like meat then no one shall eat meat.

So i guess i'll have to continue hating sundays-meat day and fridays-taco day, and bolognese spaghetti. and wait till i move on and live by myself so i can do my own food shooping and cooking.

I'm not telling you how to live your life but if you really hate the meat maybe you can either take it out of the food or eat around it? That's one way if you really don't want to have it.

That's what I do. I love the dishes we have at home that have meat in them, I couldnt stop eating them just because my parents dont want to make them vegetarian. I made the concessions and just pick through it, just eating the vegetables and sauce.
Or... I just make myself something to eat.

(hmmm... Like the blanquette de veau without the veal, too good :p)

One of my friends met Bill Clinton at some political function recently and said he looks really great.

Apparently, Chelsea Clinton is a gluten-free veg (not sure if she's vegetarian or vegan) and she suggested it. He wanted to looks good for her wedding. Awww.

On the dairy thing. Most of us were taught in school that we have to have dairy/meat to be healthy. We are now learning that government nutritional recommendations are influenced by business and not health. It's so annoying! People sometimes freak out when I tell them I don't consume dairy - like how could I be alive?

Chelsea Clinton's decision to become gluten free was because of a health related issue, not because she choose to become one for fun, however, now she gets to reap the added benefits of maintaining such a lifestyle.

I was looking through this site called suite 101 where free lance journalists can submit articles on all kinds of subjects, and looked for some on vegetarians. One of them really irritated me. He obviously thinks little of vegetarian diets, but it sounded/is very ignorant: he went on answering why people were vegetarian and vegan. He said that vegetarian and vegans supposebly dont eat meat because of animal murder, but that they still ate fruits which is preventing the trees they come from, from reproducing themselves. So that they were still killing living things, and that animals were just a pretext to orthorexia, an eating disorder.
I mean, eating an apple doesnt friggin kill the tree! And it doesnt prevent the reproduction, you can still plant the seeds after! (god what an i*iot that guy is) same goes with lots of other fruits, vegetables and plants...

Vegetarians Are Weird
It's been over 10 years that I have not eaten meat/eggs. I only knew one vegetarian and I was 12 years old I thought she was an obsessive fitness freak and crazy. I am trying to show how close minded I was. I ate steak and hamburgers one or the other every day. Thinking of not eating meat MADE ME SAD AND DEPRESSED. One day**I came across PETA's website by MISTAKE. I never ate meat again I eat a bit of cheese now and then but I want to stop, I'm mostly a vegan. My skin the difference is insane it's so clear and glowing and because I have not ate flesh in so long my skin is glow in the dark white, I like it though anyway to show I'M VEGETARIAN ! Nobody could have convinced me I had to see some awful pictures myself.
