I've just started cutting out meat in my diet. I watched Vegucated this past week and it is eye opening.
Here is a recipe for Vegan tacos that are amazing

I just viewed Vegucated and found it mighty informative and entertaining. I really liked the fact that it not only tackled the health benefits of a plant based diet but really told a perspective of one's social life as a vegan (ie the individual's vacations, eating out, etc)...It may seem like a minor problem to be eating out with friends and not indulging in a meal because there are no veg options other than a plain salad, which let's be honest happens a lot in places outside major cities, but it can make one feel uncomfortable. I think the best line came from the mother on a cruise being surrounded by delectable looking donuts and pastries and stating "It's like being a nun in an orgy". I think as a vegan I've faced my number of temptations especially those times when it's a hot day and no sorbet/veg options can be found at the only ice cream shop around . But I make do; cooking and baking a lot at home, being prepared when heading out to a new part of a city/ researching veg spots ahead of time, keeping snacks in times of need . It's not an easy process and I eat a hell of a lot better and tastier food now in my 2nd year than I did during my first few and native weeks as a new vegan :p

On a side note, I had the most AMAZING pumpkin soup yesterday and I aspire to make my own for lunch, it really hit the spot

I found a wonderful vegan parmesan cheese recipe from ohsheglows

Ingredients:

1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Directions: Toast sesame seeds until lightly browned and then throw all ingredients into a blender. Process for 30-60 seconds. Enjoy your vegan parmesan cheese!

I'm trying it tonight with pasta

^Yessss My grocery store had a bogo sale on Silk almond and I guess people have caught on to that stuff here finally because the shelf was empty, I had to practically climb in the fridge to score the last 4 left.

I tried Cooking Basics for Dummies summer veggie burger recipe today. It was so easy and good!

^^the first time i tried that i thought i had died and went to milk heaven (i'm not kidding, i said that out loud! ) however the dark chocolate flavoured one wasn't that good, i thought it tasted pretty ordinary. I haven't tried the unflavour almond milk or the vanilla flavour soy milk, are they as good as that one?

^The vanilla almond milk is all I have tried thus far and quite frankly, it's so good, I feel no need to try anything else.

Neely - I definitely want to try this out. I've never heard of nutritional yeast.

I don't know if any of you have heard of a blog called loveveggiesandyoga or Averie Cooks, but I've tried some recipes from there and it is so good.
I made this one for Monday morning:
http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/20...oat-cakes.html
and this one I ate pretty much all last summer: http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/20...kie-dough.html

I have Forks Over Knives in my queue in Netflix and cannot wait to watch it seeing how you all enjoyed it.

I'd looove to try silk almond milk, but we don't have that brand here we only have very few almond milk brands and they're 2-3 times the price of soymilk it's a shame bc I think almond milk is so delicious, but it's just too expensive to buy every week... need to make my own at some point!
