Being Asian, green tea has been established in my diet ever since I was a toddler. My family and I drink it cold as our beverage of choice (over water. I don't remember the last time I drank clear water. It' must have been more than a decade) and I drink it hot at nights to de-stress. With the combination of my diet (I eat korean food, which is generally healthier than American foods thanks in part by the small portions we eat and other stuff) I think I can safely say that it's helped me maintain my thin figure.

Green Tea is one of the best anti-oxidants out there and - I know this sounds a bit juvenille and weird - it helps you sh*t. So I guess that's where the weight loss thing comes from. I think.

I remember watching an episode of Oprah (the only episode I ever watched) where she replaced her usual cups of coffee with green tea and lost a significant amount of weight (I think 10 lbs). I don't know the time frame for which she did this, but still, 10lbs is a lot.

Oh my god YES.

My 88 year old granny is the biggest green-tea drinker I know (about 10 cups a day for almost a century, :p) and she has completely poreless, smooth, spot-free and almost wrinkle-free skin it's unbelievable.

Like Bargain Queen we drink at least 4 cups a day, it's quite normal in Japan. It's wonderfully refreshing, I love it.

And yes it's pretty well established that it prevents cancer.

Hot or cold, either way. Please don't add sugar though.

Hi Kalli, welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry Kalli, I was just being a Japanese tea-snob...tongue in cheek of course...don't mind me. In Japan we never add sweetener to traditional teas, and drinking and distinguishing subtly different leaves is amost sacred. These days though, there are many great blended and flavored green teas (from Mariage Freres for example) which I'm sure--health considerations aside-- would go wonderfully with sugar or honey. Enjoy!

I love green tea I usually add a touch of lemon juice just for a different flavor. My doctor actually recommended it to me because I was drinking far too much coffee and replacing it wth green tea has really made me feel healthier.
