if you don't try to look for leather substitutes there are tons of cute shoes to choose from made of satin, silk, velvet, corduroy, cotton, wool..... there will most likely be something to choose from in every designer's collection.

Also on the lower end, a lot of shoes from Payless are free of that annoying leather. I tried to shop in a DSW and it was infuriating because maybe 1 out of 10 pairs is animal product-free. I did find a really good pair, but most of the time Payless will have vegetarian-friendly shoes.

You couldn't get me to wear leather again...

Oh! That reminds me.

Natalie Portman has come out with a line of vegan shoes. She said that finding high quality non-leather shoes were a problem (I hear ya sister!) so she designed her own line.

Here's the link:

Pretty basic stuff. Nothing I must have - but it's a start!

Vegan shoes and boots
Is anyone here vegan and have tips on finding fashionable shoes of a great variety that aren't leather/animal skin?

Because it is impossible for me to do so. Especially to find boots. And it makes me sad.

Natalie Portman’s Vegan Shoe Line

Quote:
Natalie Portman designed a vegan collection of shoes in collaboration with Te Casan. (Vegans do not use or consume animal products of any kind.)

The Natalie Portman Collection arrives February 2008 online and at the NYC boutique located at 382 West Broadway. The shoes are available for pre-order on January 15. 5% of all vegan shoe profits will be going to charity.

Nat’s shoes will run you about $200, far cheaper than the Stella McCartney vegan heels.

Sadly the vegan mens shoes are all so ugly. I have been looking at a lot of sites lately for a good pair.

I also am having a hard time finding good vintage shoes. I can find treasures on ebay, but it seems like all the vintage boots/flats are made of leather...

I once blogged about eco-friendly fashion. Especially with shoes made of hemp, I'm very much interested in how lovely some environmentally-friendly shoes can be. I don't have an all-time favorite environmentally-friendly/guilt-free shoes. However, I'm just interested at how lovely some eco-friendly shoes can be.

I want to second this recommendation... Beyond Skin's designs are all hand-made, completely cruelty free. Go check their website, the company's philosophy is so beautiful

I'm always on the lookout for heels that I can actually walk in, are cute, affordable and animal friendly. Add the fact I don't like in a city with a ton of options, it's so hard for me to find shoes I really love.

I hear you, I wish that custom shoe site, 'Shoes of Prey', had eco and animal friendly options to choose from, like recycled plastic, cork leather, hemp/organic cotton velvet and even eco friendly dyed textiles to choose from when designing your own shoes for them to make. It wouldn't be that difficult for them to pull this off either because there are fabric dyes in some really great colors that are eco-friendly. This would be great, I've been thinking about sending that place an email about it because for now the eco-shoes they've got on the market aren't to everyone's taste even if you are dedicated to the environment.

Nicora Johns are having a huge sale, starting today!

Stephanie Nicora won PETA's award for Most talented new designer in 2014.

The shoes are handcrafted in the US so those of you who live there and want to shop locally and eco-friendly should check this out.

I really like this line (mens and womens). Everything makes sense and is cohesive and sleek. I'm going to try to get hold of their sandals that they sadly do not sell at this moment. The "Sinclair" boots look really nice too though.

All of the NJ-shoes look very good in photos (check out instagram, tumblr, google etc if you are interested), hope they look as good in real life!
