Camilla Skovgaard

A NEW MANOLO?
MANOLO BLAHNIK doesn't have much in the form of competition to worry about, but we hear he's keeping a close eye on Camilla Skovgaard. The Danish designer collected bagfuls of awards - namely the Cordwainers Innovation in Fashion award, the World City Fashion, Museum of London and Asprey & Garrard Best Shoe Design award, the London College of Fashion award for Excellence in Footwear and the Footwear UK Young Designer of the Season Award - before launching her debut autumn/winter 2005-6 collection to woo the rest of us. And she's already had all sorts of glamorous people courting her to work with them. The stunning python party shoes and sexy boots are available to buy at Start Boutique, Rivington Street, EC2, while direct deliveries are available from her website, www.camillaskovgaard.com. "I look at my shoes as individual pieces of work, each one requiring its own special attention," says Camilla. "I felt that a lot of the new shoes being produced were reactions to short-lived fashion trends as opposed to statements of true elegance and timeless style." If you're in any doubt that your shoe collection is not complete without a pair, see the fan mail that she is already receiving: "They are exquisite, they looked so dainty at first I thought that they would not fit, but they are a perfect fit and sooo comfortable," writes one satisfied customer on the website. "The leather is like butter and smells heavenly. Even if you have nowhere to wear them, just taking them out of the box is a thrill." (November 8 2005, AM)

I read somewhere that she's working for Matthew Willamson right now, too.

I love the detailing, so intricate

I'd actually wear the Pythons. I don't wear heels, but I'd wear those even if I ended up bleeding.

I was wondering when I would see a thread concerning her.

These do nothing for me personally though. . .

Cobbler Camilla Skovgaard from www.lasplash.com by Paula Jessop

Quote:
Hailed by the Times as representing the cr'?? de la cr'?? of the next generation of footwear designers Camilla Skovgaard introduces her Spring Summer 2005 line.
Camilla Skovgaard graduated in 2003 with a First Class Honours degree in Footwear Design, Marketing and Product Development from the acclaimed Cordwainers College, alma mater of Jimmy Choo and Patrick Cox, in London UK. Prior to formal training as a cobbler Camilla worked in the Gulf Arab luxury market for seven years designing couture garments for the Sheikh families.

During her time at Cordwainers Camilla has won a number of prestigious awards and prizes, all of which recognise her high level of achievement. In her first year Jimmy Choo presented her with an award, in her second year she won the Cordwainers Innovation in Fashion Award; plus the World City Fashion, Museum of London and Asprey & Garrad Best Shoe Design Award. She followed this in her final year with the London College of Fashion Award for Excellence in Footwear 2003 and Footwear UK Young Designer of the Season Award. Camilla has also forged a number of high fashion industry collaborations including SAGA furs, beading and embroidery specialists and the exclusive fashion retail emporium Villa Moda in Kuwait.

Earlier this year Camilla was handpicked for an article in the Times representing the cr'?? de la cr'?? of the next generation of footwear designers, also UK Vogue has listed Camilla as a name to watch out for. This spring Camilla teamed up with a top Italian shoe manufacturer in Venice to produce her first shoe line, Spring Summer 2005, for a select top end market. It goes without saying that product quality and service is among the best. The line is small and chic, eight models - each in two colour ways totalling in sixteen shoes using top of the range Italian kid leathers and materials. Heel heights are at a dressy 95-100mm with one model a flat slip-in sandal for more laid back dressy wear. Camilla is a stout believer in shape and much attention goes toward developing last shapes of which there are no other identical matches.
Product design is aimed to serve women that demand a more mature distinctive style, seduction and quality. Women that are highly educated in brands as much as they are in current affairs, they form a new customer culture who wants to define luxury on their own terms, and form emotional bonds with what they wear. Camilla Skovgaard is driven by style and form aesthetics rather than short-lived fashion trends and reckons good design to be nearly invisible to the naked eye because it is judged on how it feels, how it fits, how it makes you move, it is attributes such as these that define Camilla Skovgaard.

From danish newspaper Berlingske Newspaper section M/S (a rough translation)

"Besides working on her own shoe collections, Camilla Skovgaard is currently working on Matthew Williamson's next spring shoe collection. Companies such as MaxMara, Jimmy Choo and Diesel have shown interest in the 33-year old dane, but she has currently chosen to focus on her own label."

Some more shoes..

Pics from Harpers Bazaar British Edition Sept 2006

I fell in love with the phyton sandals, they look soo good on. Well, at least they look really good on her
I also liked the 'wrap it' sandals. They are lovely. I think I'll be buying, because most of they shoes I've seen are gorgeous.

i just wanted to bump this thread since i got a chance to see her collection and buy it actually for kuwait and monaco. i was very impressed with the detailing and the quality.
also saw matthew williamson runway shoes close up this season and i must admit that she is doing a good job from a commercial point of view for him yet keeping her main line very exclusive

I love her shoes.

I was going to buy these, but they don't come down to my size... I love them so much.
