Designer handbag brand Mulberry is taking the next step in the world of fashion, by adding footwear to the brands accessory line, which is set to debut in the season of Fall 2008. Based on his impeccable design background, for the new project Mulberry will work with Jonathan Kelsey, a previous shoe designer for top labels such as Jimmy Choo, Luella, Cacharel, and Giles Deacon. (FYI: He works with the same factory that makes Chloe, Marc Jacobs and Galliano footwear ranges). The new line is set to make its first world wide appearance at the brand’s London Fashion Week presentations, in the Bond Street showroom on February 14, 2008.
Five styles make up the collection: A riding boot, Ankle Boot, Shoe Boot, Pump and Flat Lace-Up shoe in shades of plum, coffee and grey, that compliment the grunge inspired A/W 08 clothing and accessory collections.
“Footwear has always been part of our business plan. We loved Jonathan’s Autumn / Winter 2007 Collection and thought his energy and design ethos he would be an excellent fit for our brand. We are currently committed to Autumn / Winter 2008 and Spring / Summer 2009; and if this goes well, we’d like to further develop footwear in the future”. - Lisa Montague, COO for Mulberry
The first ever Mulberry shoe line will be on sale by September 2008, and prices will range from $100 to $500
This is definitely good news, glad to hear the brand is trying to branch out (as it should). Now if only the bags were closer to the shoe price range, I'd feel a lot better

Sounds very intriguing, the boots especially! Of course, I have a tendency to like anything 'grunge' inspired (and in the color grey).
