hmmm. what are your opinions?
I just bought these kick *** boots, but they're scrunched at the ankle, are they supposed to look like this or are my calfs just not the right size for these?

Let me know...

Helena, they are cute. I am not that much into the "toe" though, but maybe that's just me. I think you can do better.

yay if it's for work i guess...
a bit too 'cutesy' for my personal taste...
but they're not bad...

***i don't know...
i have an attraction/aversion to spectators all at the same time...
very chic...but also a bit uptight...maybe too uptight for me...

...i don't think i'm helping am i..?!...

'spectators'? what does that mean....?

I do cute more than you though....its the colour thing mainly. would they be ok with dark colours? or too standout? I find shoes really hard....

I couldn't possibly wear them to work though....you must overestimate how sartorially liberal it is......that is way too elaborate for work.

spectators are any sort of white shoe with the blk or navy toe and heel action...
like those...^^

i think that the ways you can wear them is very limited actually...
they just scream WASP to me...
sort of upper crust, country club...
muffy and buffy and biff..blah blah...
i can only imagine them on a blonde...(which works for you of course)

and with a straight long skirt and a blouse that ties at the neck...
we have a store here called talbots...http://www1.talbots.com/talbotsonlin...t.asp?BID=&h=M
it's even more uptight than hobbs...

that's what they remind me of...
sort of 'dowdy'...too conservative...a little 'old'...
**maybe they would be cool if you tried to dress them down with a pair of khakis?...
do you wear khakis?...and a tux jkt with a big white shirt...

they are also really meant to be worn in the spring...
not that you'd have to adhere to that...but just so you know...

like maybe for the horse races......

Helena - tried to do some research and couldn't come up with much, but here's a link with a pic of the classic men's spectator. These days, they're done in all styles and colors, but it's the two tone action at the toe & heel as Soft mentioned that defines it as spectator I believe

http://www.atomicmag.com/articles/2001/two_tones.shtml

BTW - I have a pair of spectator slingback pumps I absolutely adore As seen here - http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/showpost.php?p=778975&postcount=721

** sorry about the annoying javascript pop-up in the link

softgrey...hmmmmm .....I was thinking of wearing them with black opaque tights & cropped trousers or with a skirt. ^^ that look you describe isn't what I am after. you are putting me off now. i don't want to look old.
