I think it's a lot more than that!

I'm working on the s/s collection 2006 and its filled with pastels like theese ones, but mixed with bright red, strong lime green and bright yellow.

Black and "old" pink, still...

A lot of allover prints in bright colors..

Well, it's so abstract...in the end all colors show up, maybe just in a pattern..

You are right , there are about another 12 secondary colours, and 3 of they are pinks, which means maybe pinks still stay "trendy" but it is not the "major" colour. (3 pinks, 4 wood and earthy tones, 1 red and 2 baby blue in light and slightly darker shade)

the colour i posted is not 100% accurate, because i have difficulty to find colour-chips online, and scan they is totally pointless, but i hope people can get a sense of which colour i am talking about.

There are tons more colors! Today I went to a Spring/Summer 2006 Forecast session...

There are tons of creams, and dark dark browns, dark gray/greens, ladylike pinks, fuschias, juicy oranges... orange is going to be the hot color of the summer.

OMG, please forgive me, these is not the only colour, there are a lot more. But since the colour are select based on ideologyand and psychoanalytic, i guess it will be easier to put in this way:

  • Colours are largely impacted by GLOBALIZATION,
  • Colours that are influenced by EXOTIC CULTURE, for example- velvet, gems, jewel tones……….ext.
  • Colours with UNVERSAL APPEAL, for example, orange, light navy, light blue-green (peacock green), creamy skin tones ext.
  • Colours that symbolize the Mother Earth, for example- very green, different shade of green, blues, beige, sandy tones.
  • Colours of INDUSTRIALIZED CITY, for example- Black and grey scale.
  • Colours that are associated with relaxation for MODERN LIVING.
  • Colours remind us PASSION ABOUT LIFE, for example- Red, pinks, bright orange.

It's quite an abstract topic... Different designers uses different colors cos their targets are different. (Old people & young people doesnt normally wear the same colour) Different chemistry-companies sell different colours, thats the point I guess, its not so much about the taste of the people, but the commercial business of the industry that actually produces color.. Well, maybe I'm not so clear, it's 8 oclock in the morning..

ss06 colours are very close to what cypress posted, but see each trend office has a different proposition and a different attitude to what is a trend and what is not.

we see the continuation of washed out brights, the grey-ish tint effect .. then we have bold 'primal' colours and some real brights for intense effects, which are used mainly as 'accent'.

major ss06 colour is BLUE in all its shades, YELLOW in warm sunny shade, classic RED and the absolute continuation of a grass like GREEN.

i'm working a lot with colours (already in fw06.07 by now) and i choose different tones for each 'mood' story of our collections.
something that may be fit for an 'african' theme will be wrong for a 'folk' theme , something suitable for a 'nostalgic' story wont do for our 'paradise beach' section.

cypresses latest colour 'philosophy' breakdown is very well put, colour trends reflet (and are based) on managing socio-economic moods, making things attractive starts from philosophical and not from esthetical approach.

i understand that for some this may feel abstract.. it feels abstract even for industrialists, but then.. thats what fashion consultants -like myself- are for.. unlocking the mysteries of product placement

wow, this is really interesting! although im with softgrey in that i really dont have a clear idea of what colors will be hot . but what i *do* realize is that colors i wore last year... even last season are totally different from what im wearing now/will wear in spring. like i went on a dirty brassy-color binge in my jewely last year, and this year i can only think of dirty copper
