I can do the 1990s. I loathe the 1980s. I can recall a lot about the 1990s. Here are some:
* chunky heel shoes and boots * school girl mary janes * showing some midriff/belly (more on this later) * cropped tops for ladies * flared jeans, some with huge flares * Keds were popular among many ladies as a casual shoe * most message shirts were more along the lines of "Whatever," "Love," just the complete opposite today. Most message T-shirts are usually hateful and mean. For example: "I'd rather be alone than to be with you," "boys are stupid... throw rocks at them," and "I'm not in a bad mood, I just don't like you." Believe it or not, most men's message T-shirts are even worse than most ladies' tops. * Mickey and Minnie Mouse clothing (not real big on cartoon characters) * clothing featuring almost any other cartoon character * skorts (usually a pair of shorts with a wrap front to mimic a skirt. WILDLY popular with most ladies, but banned in some schools like one school I went to) * flowers in fashion garments I at least remember mid-late 1990s. If you're talking about the early 1990s with some of the hip-hop themed clothing of then, then I'm probably sure that I'm not sure if I'd want to see this revived. I noted the showing of the belly. I think this was a result of when Britney Spears wasn't the embarassing whacko she was, when Christina Aguilera's delicious body was showcased (especially her almost perfect belly), showing of the navel, and that sort of thing. One time on the last days of my 8th Grade life, two friends of mine dressed identically. One of those days (the two ladies are named Carmelita and Angela, by the way), the two worn these black button-down shirts with flower designs on them, white jeans, and white Keds-style sneakers. Carmelita was more of a full-figured curvy lady. Both of them had their shirts unbuttoned up to where their navels can be displayed from their shirts. We usually wear uniforms, but this was a day we could wear whatever we wanted. The two ladies dressed the same way, only with a white button-down shirt with flowery patterns. The 1990s I take away is one in which girls weren't like "boys are stupid." Perhaps even a time of more modest and more lovely style than today's tucking jeans into boots, wearing leggings under skirts, and bull like that. What's happened? The 1990s was about love. But ladies nowadays wearing and talking about hating guys. I'm not big on rock music, but one of my favorite rock songs from the 1990s was "Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I even liked "Black Hole Sun" from Soundgarden. I even liked "Tubthumping" by the floundering rock group Chumbawamba(?). I agree... we're still in the 1980s with fashion. Looking like a prick obviously is still more prevalent than looking like (at least) 1990s material.Oh, and one last thing I've loved about the 1990s in fashion: the naughty school girl look. Wearing a dressy shirt under a blouse was a nice trend during the 1990s. Cute and innocent among ladies. I'll take the school girl look opposed to "'80s chic" or "rockstar girl" any day of the week. |

Pick your favorite 90s clothes (there are also 2000 - 2007 ones, just change the year in the '1999' url):
http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1990-pics/fashion.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1991-pics/fashion.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1992-pics/fashion.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1993-pics/fashion2.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1994-pics/fashion2.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1995-pics/fashion2.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1996-pics/fashion2.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1997-pics/fashion2.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1998-pics/fashion.jpg http://flashback.wwzapper.com/1999-pics/fashion.jpg Is there something you want to come back??? Btw: The 1990 till 1992 collages will be improved in the future (I want them to look similar to the others), but it's difficult to find good pictures with quite realistic/daily fashion from those days. On the 1993 till 1999 ones, spring/summer fashion is on the left and autumn/winter fashion is on the right.

I love overalls. But I can't find them anywhere. I know there's no way I can wear them in public, but I used to love wearing them as a kid.

Well the early 90's, for me the ones that really count, the way I lived it are in "My so called life",I was just a year older than Angela in the series at the time so everything is spot on, the fashion, the way of thinking, everything, even the boys. I was reviewing some episodes and i got to the conclusion that the fashion was not that bad after all, there was a sense of freedom in dressing to please no one that I never found in any other time.

^ I was also My So Called Life addict. Same goes for Twin Peaks. I think those shows have really good 90s style. I agree about the freedom of dressing as well. I think the roots are in the grunge attitude.
