I have a shorter chloe cape from last season and it's not very warm, its more for the mid season when its chilly but not freezing. Its very comfrtable though and easy to manervure in.

I agree guessgirl- It was a little drafty, so I ended up wearing an extra layer to keep warm.

the other issue is where to put your bag... underneath the cape? I like it held in the hand, just below the hem of the cape, but in riskier areas I want my bag on my shoulder. a close fitting messenger bag worked for me, sometimes my shoulder bag would fall off my shoulder and it made the cape bulky underneath when held under the arm.

I got the sofia kokosalaki cape last winter and loved it. it was a little cold though. I think this year I'll save it for the not-SO-cold days.

Bumping this up, because I capes and still haven't found a nice one. I saw one at Zara but it was very full and overwhelmed me

You can see the slits there at the sides, so you can take your arms when you need to:p

gius, i am sold on thick heavy wool capes for warmth. they work at keeping the wind out if they are long enough and have the hand slits. i also love the idea of a hooded cape but not in red...i remember seeing that vandevorst i think its what got me started in the first place.

I love capes specially the ones that let my inner little red riding hood out.I would love to have one but I'm afraid I might like to childish. It doesn't matter is just that Red capes are so magical! like this one by Kate Sylvester or even Marianne Stokes painted one.

That cape is amazing. I have a red cape but everyone says I look crazy in it so I have never worn it!!!

beautiful pictures, guys

though these two flaring out,
(sethii's and lmelanie's posts)
it is technically not a cape... rather just "A-line" silhouette or flare, etc

To define the cape, it is something where there are no sleeves.. it is one piece and there are holes for the arms

but beautiful garments nonetheless!!
i love also deborah's the way it is only subtly a cape.. it appears there are sleeves but the majority of it is connected to the body.. and you can see there is no shoulder seams either

i still love capes

the one i have is relatively warm but like guessgirl mentioned above it's more for midseason sort of late spring and autumn wear.. not warm enough for dead of winter in terms of having my arms peak out...

especially if i wear it with eveningwear in which my arms are bare... brr!

maybe investing in a pair of long gloves would do the trick though
