At the moment, covered a lot of shows in Milan at the Donna - I see two trends. One fur heats, like at the ICEBERG show and plumes and hovels like at Sinibaldi and Bluemarine.

I see kind of a Joan of Arc, woman/princess going to war trend developing:

Ann Demeulemeester

Rick Owens

Prada

Ohne Titel

Haider Ackermann

this might be along the lines of what Spike413 was trying to say, "preparation for an apocalyptic war"

I'm actually LOVING the biker jackets! Wang, Staerk, + Vena Cava are some faves. Armand Basi One did a great interp. as well.

Miuccia Prada really acknowledged the recession as well. Classic shapes, an unobstrusive palette.. way to go, Prada.

Another trend I'm sure we're seeing: chains, heavy-metal, warrior bad-*** female looks. Leather is also amazingly popular, and for a good reason. Texture and proportion are big as well.

I'm starting to notice a lot of Houndstooth prints like in DKNY, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney. I think it's nice on a casual outfit, but it's kind of repetitive seeing it on the runway.

DKNY

Alexander McQueen

Stella McCartney

Ruffian

absolutely, these type of boots made the biggest impression trend-wise for me.. they're so distinctive, and they were in so many big shows. I can't say I don't love them.. they look.. fun.

Maybe inspired by the work of Sandra Backlund, I saw some really coarse knitted pieces on the runway this season:

Emilio Pucci:

Antonio Berrardi:

Pringle of Scotland:

Alexander McQueen:

Iceberg:
