I love stuff like this. I used to know a website that had loads of old, really kitsch videos like this on it specifically for fashion but I've since forgotten it. Doh! I seriously dont think that in 20/30/40 years there will be too much radical difference really in dress. If you think about the great shifts in dress over the past they have occured through social revolution and change. Such as women becoming more lliberated and going to work after the Victorian era and therefore, making it unpracticle for them to spend 2 hours every morning being helped into a crinoline and corset to sit and "look pretty" round the house- as this progressed people like Mary Quant lead the way on the 60s for mini skirts and women's dress changed to reflect their changing sexuality and "freedom". Personally, I'd be more interested in predictions as to how society will have changed in say 50/100 years and what this has led to in terms of acceptable dress in the future.

very interesting. I agree with Monkiwrensh's statement about how society will change.
The shoe's were fabulous, can't say the same for the glass wedding dress though. they were sought of right about the woman of 2000 wearing clothes that will carry her through from daywear to evening wear, they just didn't show us the right clothes. thanks for posting ![]() |

you guys should take a look at a book called Techno Fashion
a garment you wear that functions also as a cell phone? They've been developing items like that already ![]() and NASA makes uniforms out of a material which changes from cool to warm to suit your body temperature.. ![]() Nice to see some of these ideas have already been discovered like for example regards to Coco Chanel making it possible for women to wear daywear in the evening and also especially where I live, I see the disappearance of skirts to pants |

So much in this video was true if you look at the essential points they were making...all of it is in production or planning already

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. that's seriously one of the coolest/most interesting things I've seen in a long time. And they weren't too far-fetched either. Karma!

Hahaha, I loved this. They had a rather rediculous, and sad, outlook for the men. That thing looked like a spacesuit. The only thing I found remotely fashionable were those shoes.
Atleast they got something right. ![]() |

the clothes wouldnt look out of place in Galliano...
i also noticed the shoes they were bang on point very marc jacobs, he probably saw this video. I think fashion follows "politics" i.e. reflecting whether we live in a liberal or conservative era rather than technology and i think thats where they got it wrong.. especially for men im sure theyd be very confused after watching a mens fashion show lol |

LMAO, love that video. The quotes are a killer.
"One dress will consist of transparent net. The net apparently to catch the males." "In AD 2000 we'll be having a ~hair raising~ time." "An electric belt will adapt the body to climatic changes." "The (something) woman of tomorrow, OH SWISH, will move in the atmosphere that's scientifically kept at the right temperature." "The future bride in a wedding dress of glass." "An electric headlight to help to her find an honest man." "As for him, if he matters at all, there won't be any shaving, colors or ties, or pockets. He'll be fitted with a telephone, a radio, and containers for coins, keys and candy for cuties." LMAO, love it.

I wonder who the designers were behind forcasting the future? The first one with the sleeve looked very Schiaparelli.

The commentary was funny and of course the whole thing was dated, but some of the predictions were indeed accurate...pants everywhere (it's only just now that skirts are being worn more widely again), cellphones, the shoes, etc. Great video!
