I love how NYT covers 'New Trends' like they invented it, even though this is not really a trend at this point- they can be charming like that. Great article though.
^Yes, I like how they focus on the fact that colored hair doesn't necessarily have to look punk or rebellious but colored hair in general is hardly a new trend
I like how chic the pink/purple hair looks in this new Mauro Grifoni F/W 11.12 campaign:
I've noticed a few bloggers catching on to this recently, and I do think it can be really pretty/fabulous/exciting.
I am in my thirties, and not sure that I would dabble, but nor would I at the age of 17, so make of that what you will I prefer the pink tones to the blue - and something about it all reminds me of Blythe dolls...
I think it will vary from person to person - age related rules are tedious, and there are a few older girls who really rock this look. Likewise, some teens don't. I guess it all depends upon your personality and style, and perhaps your eye colour, skin tone, etc.
Does this ever go out of style, really? I recall girls doing this when I was a teen, then it vanished for a while, then returned. Maybe it's cyclical...
I love that Katie Shillingford got married with her hair dyed cotton candy pink:

I want to have lavender hair myself but since my hair is currently dyed pitch black it's not that easy getting there.
I think pastel hair is easier to pull of at any age and in any job than bold crazy colored hair. Lavender and ice blue hair can look very subtle and romantic, depending on how you style your hair and what clothes you wear with it.
