Cricket sweaters
Vague trend forming here.

Stiff upper lips aplenty in this most English of sporting garments:

Some Australian wallahs show off their cricket sweaters. England's Michael Vaughan in the foreground?

Viktor and Rolf do cricket inspired French stylee. Not that the French can play cricket...but arguably neither can the English...

With blazer, for the tongue-in-chic look

Japan stylee at Issey Miyake. They DEFINTELY can't play cricket, but we won't hold that against the clothes...

And there's another one from either this year or the last from one of those weird obscure Japanese designers who were popular in the eighties (y'know the ones that aren't Yohji, Rei or Junya!), so send it this way if you see it.

Burberry Prorsum has definetely done them also. If anyone has picture, you know who to call.

Can't say I'm a fan of these...what is the difference between this style of sweater and a 'tennis' sweater? I remember some similar looking sweaters were on trend reports beginning as early as S/S 05, but they were labelled as tennis sweaters (e.g. the ones Louis Vuitton did).

I would guess that they are cricket sweaters but they're called something else because the French can't play cricket.

I don't know why they are called differently but my ralph lauren CROQUET sweater from 1988 looks exactly like this except it has TWO black V's at the neck. It's also a brushed COTTON not like the more traditional tennis jumpers I have in wool. I agree the old-fashioned tennis jumper does look a lot like a croquet or cricket jumper except for the fabric.
