Im glad im not the only one who noticed a ballet trend going around. Although most of the posts go into more detail than I had in mind I thought that dancers "warm up" clothing and casual wear was what was inspiring trends not their tutus and gowns. My sister is going to the National dance school in Canada and she sports the cutest casual ballet wear like wrap tops, leg warmers, cut off black tights, different colored soft soled ballet shoes, and body pieces with all sorts of designs and cuts in the back if anyone has any pictures of ballet casual wear to post to go along with what im describing that'd be great.

actually I think it's a bit of both the 'warm up' clothes and the costume side of ballet. I am a bit more attracted the more casual side of things - wrap tops, simple gathered skirts, layered camisoles, ballet flats etc - though I love both! for example, I am currently pining for a full, layered tulle skirt.

I once went to this club in L.A. and this girl was wearing jeans and a poufy pink tutu skirt over them. IT WAS SO FREAKING CUTE!
Since then (about 2 years ago) I have been wanting to recreate that look...

Wow! I love all these! I myself am in my 8th year of ballet, and i just love to wear my wrap-around tops, and leg warmers and such. They look so cool, and are very comfortable! I'm so glad to see that some of this style is on the runway!

Didn't Ashlee Simpson do something like that?

Ralph Mecke is wonderful. He's a frequent contributer to German Vogue - I remember some of those shots from a particular editorial. I wish I could find my favorite online - this dress (Jil Sander) was worn by the ballerina:
