I have a very short half slip I wear to stop skirts clinging to my tights and riding up. I can't wear full slips under dresses though, I get far too warm!

i never worn or have to wear slips since i never wear a too thin clingy skirt or a skirt without lining anyways.
i never really saw slips as an undergarment since i grew up seeing it as another medium for layering or for sleeping in. though i still know women who wear half slips when they wear clingy skirts so it doesnt keep riding up.

Vintage Slips - 15 pages of Full & Half Slips These are vintage slips and they're all pretty budget-friendly, with a massive variety. (In fact, the entire site is great, although nothing is really designer. A lot of clothes without labels that were probably hand/homemade... really nicely.)

I don't wear slips. My mother wears half slips I never needed them but after seeing some pictures in this thread I may re-consider. :p

It's actually pretty sad to see slips go. I've known a few femmes who have worn slips. I don't have any problem with slips and/or petticoats. They can be lovely to wear. These are changing times, though... we can't all live in the past (even '80s lovers hate to admit). Still sad to see this being a dead trend. But who's to say they somehow they resurge again in coming years or maybe decades?

I love wearing slips and finding cute printed and colored slips to wear under a sheer shirt or dress. Sometimes slips can give something that extra pop that's needed to take an outfit to another level.

Oh..Jessie! Stop flashing us your undergarments!

Seriously though, is it just me who feels it's beautiful for a nicely cut bra to show slightly through a blouse, but quite another for panties to show through a transluscent skirt??
Am I old-fashioned?

I often wear chiffon skirts...with half-slips or leggings underneath. Never full slips, except a mauve silk one to bed.

I've never worn a slip under a skirt.

I remember trying on my mum's half slip, when I was a small child, which she never wore as she lived in jeans and trousers, most of the time and had absolutely fantastic, long, slim, legs; so had no real need of one, even when she did, occasionally, wear one of her lightweight, cotton, Laura Ashley skirts.

I don't like wearing see-through clothing (too flimsy), or long skirts in general (too constricting) - like my mum, I prefer trousers/leggings (on the rare occasion I have worn a skirt, in the last couple of years, I've worn a mini with opaque tights), so have no real need for a slip, either.

I did buy a plain black satin slip dress, back in the mid '90s, but when I tried it on at home, my mother looked absolutely horrified and said I looked like I was wearing underwear (which was the whole idea, of course, but nevertheless, I was very young and impressionable and trusted my mum's judgment, so it put me off!), so I never wore it (much to my BF's disappointment!).

I love slips but I don't know how to wear them...like what kind of skirts (I assume no pencil skirts?) and dresses? Do you wear skirt slips under dresses and do you wear slips when your dress/skirt is not transparant?

i wear slips as intended ie only under dresses that are translucent. i do find it hard to find nice slips nowadays so i prefer to look for them in vintage shops. to me a slip isn't a trend, it's just a piece of clothing that can be used as is or worn in a more modern context, on the outside.
