Dusty Colours S/S 06
as predicted in the 'new gothic thread here...
http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums...&page=14&pp=20

DUSTY COLOURS are all over the spring runways...
i hope spike doesn't mind but he illustrated it so well that i am going to use his post to start off this thread...
it's all the colours we mentioned...
cream, oyster, lavendar, grey, ... (silver being the same tonality)...
nude seems huge as well...

Quote:
Softgrey mentioned dusty colors, very muted, soft translucent shades......I have a feeling those will be big, pale blues, seafoam greens, greys, oyster, taupe, ice, lilac all fused together to make very "hybrid" shades that you can't really pinpoint. I predict these will be the colors for the season.

I loved Marc Jacobs' palette

I love them! So delicate; ethereal... But not universally flattering, I'm afraid.

loving this trend, I have found myself buying and wearing a lot of pale grey recently, and I bought a beautiful chiffon layered oyster coloured dress yesterday. Although I think this look does require a certain skin tone/ hair colour

Great thread Softie!

I am not a fan of dusty colors, though they are much better than flashier colors..... Maybe because I got tired of seeing them so much.....

I seriously prefer black.......

Oh we know.

Despite these colours looking lovely on the runway, I won't wear them since they really don't suit me.

I think it can look really elegant on those who have the skintone and colors to wear them. But I myself would look horribly washed-out in these colors! I think I could wear them on a skirt or something not close to my face though...

Strawberry I've seen you looking great in a beautiful dusty pink skirt...so don't lie!

I do like the muted, dusty colours but I always feel the inclination to mix them with bolder colours or black just to offset all the soft paleness. I'm not sure if I could go through a whole spring/summer wearing JUST these nudey, beigey, oystery colours.

which skin tone/hair color would that be?

...ok then, I can wear them with a lot of black - i.e. not directly next to my skin.

Coke - I think a warm skin tone is best for this look...

It does look excellent with the black.

Also, the pale colours also unfortunately make me look like a beached whale so....wearing them could require some bravery or a really intense diet.

Well I guess we all know how I feel about the trend :p

I'm so glad to see designers breaking away from the cliche summer palette. These shades are so beautiful, they look so soft and unthreatening....but because they're being used in a spring collection I think they make you take notice because they're totally unexpected.

I hope the European collections continue with this trend....can't wait to see

Actually, I think this trend could work for those who have fair skintones as well. If you go for more saturated hues and darker colors (not so dusty), I think there's a good chance it wont wash you out.
