Equestrian Chic F/W 06.07
A sport reserved to the bourgeois only?

Maybe that's why you may try to impress others by sporting this luxurious style. Riding boots, gloves, helmets, tailored suit and you're ready to go.

We don't care if you can't ride a horse, because most of us probably don't either.

the riding hat was a 'must' for so many Parisian shows..
Ralph Lauren's collection was also influenced by the riding club chic..
i think it will work, mainly for the mainstream mass market, it's a safe and totally commercial look

possibly one of my favorite trends. i love saddle boots with a seemingly undying passion. i recently picked up a vintage pair for $50 at a second hand store, and was so excited i fell over when i bought them.

Hah....I'm roped into a trend that's feels SO not trendy. My whole family rides - when you're wearing mud covered jodphurs and poo stained riding boots, the last thing on your mind is 'Hmmm how cool do I look!'

I get my gear from a shop in Sloane Sq and I suppose with the right kind of styling, SOME of the stuff can look good but in reality, it's all pretty ugly....

^ Part of why Englishwomen have not historically been renowned for their style ...

Haha, i used to ride and spend time around the stable ... the contrast between my stable gear (steel toe boots, pants worn so the suede has turned shiny, drooled on jacket, nice helmet though) and my gorgeous Prada riding boots and perfectly fit suit jacket couldn't be more striking.

Love my Prada boots though, so am very happy to hear of further life of the equestrian trend!

Equestrian Style
A lovely photo spread of Madonna is featured in this month's W.

What's the general feel about equestrian style? It's lovely on film but on the street? The only time I ever felt it was fitting was when I saw lovely, fit women in a Notting Hill pub wearing riding breeches and cozy sweaters on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

I know this pops up on the runway from time to time as well.

In this shoot I feel that the equestrian accessories are simply to illustrate the point that Madge a.) fell off her horse and b.) survived and thrives! teeheehee!
