^^fur was sooo huge on men collections this winter... which was kinda interesting in some cases... and SOOOOO disgusting in most of the others (it has nothing to do with ethics and animals and enviroment and all that... i just think that the gucci fur-tux looked just WRONG!)

Trend Predictions: FW08

I know the february shows are months away, but in your opinion, what do you think the major catwalk trends will be?

based on what we saw for FW07 and SS08, i'd say:
-more chunky knits
-i think seventies colors such as burgandy/red, orange and brown will make a comeback
-heavy fabrics
-the "new minimalism"
-continuation of the Grey Gardens theme
-americana/quakerism (at least in NY)
-florals/nature motifs

I think we will see a lot of colors. No silver/gold. Black.
Any idea when are the designers starting to create the fall collections?

that's true because they have to have the preparations and designs ready, so they can get the samples made before f.w fashion week in the summer
summer's already pretty soon, when you have a lot of work to do

as a whole, designer usually try to be about 1-2 seasons ahead in their design process
im sure some of the larger houses have already started finding inspirations and doing mock ups for FW09

Jeans in 2008/2009?

What do those of you in the industry see coming for late 2008/early 2009 in the jeans scene? Are skinnies going to last or anything new & exciting? What about Diesel's Yoke Jeans - is that going to actually take off?

Definetly not with jeans... but well styled i love the paper-bag effect on womenswear! (i think ive seen Carine Roitfeld pulling that off quite well)

for jeans i WISH we dont go back to baggy, and the skinny keeps going on for a little more time... i just CANT find trousers that fit me (i am way to thin for wide leg)

I am seeing more and more of the slightly higher rised jeans with a wide leg. I am 5'7" and never thought they'd look good on me but they actually do - they make you look taller and slim!

here are some recurring points for trends that i jotted down via premiere vision
it's all on fabrics, but that should give you some ideas for the kind of garment you will be seeing!

menswear
autumn winter 08 09

colours: red kiss, meteorite, mauve smoke, oxblood, creme cassis, sidereal, ink, humus, turtledove,

aspects: plastic & metallic, structures, semi-transparency
also: stripes on weaves
tennis, banker styles
Prince of Wales

behaviours & handles: intentional firmness
also round, compact, springy, draping

finishing:
shine whether smooth, plastic or scintillating
also: water-resistance for woollens
referring to my old post from 2nd page...
let's see how true those predictions were

let's translate to english those colours...
reds, greys, greyed purples, dark red, soft browns/tans/beiges/etc, dark shades close to black, sea green
i would say colours are right?
the colours, there was a lot @ Missoni.. all of these points
the rest of the collections go with the rest of the colours

the aspects
there was certainly a lot of shine (metallic as in prada and bruno pieters)
structure... you have stand-up collars and draping over the body (ie. damir doma, bottega veneta)
tons of pleated pants @ dior homme
almost transparent... this must be the nudes @ Prada
roundness and springy... lots of heavy textured knits (lace and texture knits @ burberry, texture knits @ galliano + gaspard yurkievich)
round silhouettes @ jil sander...
