maybe i'm being naiive, but i thought that it was being referred to as Hijab CHIC meant it was an aesthetic, and much like many aesthetic elements, it is derivative of a certain thing, not necessarily upholding the the traditions the style, but more of a reference to it?
some of the posts, as i read through, have seemed a little disgruntled that the stylistic traditions are not being upheld......(tone is hard to read off the internet though..so i could be reading it wrong)

its not about tradition, you can wear a hijab however you want to but it shouldnt be something that draws attention to you as that is hypocritical because of the reasons for wearing one. i admit that some of these innovations are really exciting but it doesnt seem right to make a hijab into something ostenatious and to wear one with fitted, tight clothing. (e.g. shieka moza)

I should take pics of the girls I see on the street everyday...a lot of them are pretty fierce! But I feel like it would be pretty rude of me to take pics without them knowing?

I saw a hilarious ad on Arabic tv for some washing powder or detergent that was meant to preserve the colour of black clothes...abayas, of course ParadEyes, maybe you know which one I'm talking about?

^ lol I don't watch Arabic TV very much . but generally, Abayas have a special kind of soap that you don't use for regular clothes.

and you are sooo true! the abayas I see everyday on the streets here are exquisite and unique but I can never take pictures of them and you never find them anywhere online cause they're usually custom-made.

^Darn! That ad is too funny.

I love the time around Eid, btw. The girls really pile on the sequins and the boys clean up very nicely instead of the usual ghetto-stuff they wear

I absolutely love the hijab fashions. A couple of times I see women who are covered head to toe and I always love how mysterious and extravagant they look. They were all wearing black also.

That's life in the ghetto! Sandstorms is the only thing that's missing, otherwise this is the real deal

BTW I keep seeing a woman in all black wearing a niqab...with glasses on top :p It looks really odd, I must say
