Old-School Knickers Get a New Identity
May 13, 2004 – Zac Posen used his metallic-leather pair to "make the suit modern." The Proenza Schouler team were inspired by matadors. Emanuel Ungaro showed a racy version augmented with zippers, while Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton chose Little Lord Fauntleroy-approved velvet. Who knew the simple knicker—a trim, knee-length trouser that once conjured images of country squires—could take on multiple personalities? Even Roberto Cavalli turned out a version (in leather, of course) that was more spicy than sporty, while Balenciaga and Emilio Pucci steered in the other direction with more gently cut, cropped trousers.

when i first saw knickers i thought u meant the word in the english sense... n i had to see wat on earth u was talkin abt pants for
knicker bockers.... hmmm they have been tryin to b in for agers now...jus like yellow... they will find a spurt someday... but not yet i still think
this pic u posted does look very similar to capris though... not billowy enough to b knicker bockers
i guess that's why i like them...they are not just a literal version...they still gather below the knee like a traditional knicker...but the extended bit makes them look more modern and less costumey...i think they're sooo cool... :P

i was just reading about this yesterday. well, i think i was. british vogue calls it johdpurs and i had no idea what they were talking about. i think they're the same as knickerbockers though
I'm with softie. I think they can be very cute. Love the lacroix ones. If I had them I think I would definately wear them with tights and heels and something modern on top so I don't look like I came from play rehearsal.
