I hadn't either (not that that's saying much )
So I just looked her up. A student at London College of fashion it would seem.

it's all in the eyes.

good eye makeup makes or breaks a gothic look.

i'm excited about this too...i love the look of all black!

i don't think it's 100% in the eyes, haydn...it's important, but not all encompassing. i've seen beautiful gothic outfits where the model or whomever wasn't wearing a spec of makeup. i think it depends on lots of different factors.

i will find my favorite examples of 'gothic' soon!

*hmm black yes, gothic no... still not persuaded that gothic is high trend for winter
turn of the century/victorian and gothic do not have too much in common, much more since fw05.06 turn of the century is more 'delicate', more romantic and did not have too much black (eg. ysl, rochas etc)

I'd say that nuns put the black in gothic and there are nuns aplenty in fin-de-siecle gothic. The gothic craze reached its height around 1790, romantic poetry is earlier than that and the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood, with all those floaty muslin dresses, was formed in 1849.

I don't think gothic will be huge this winter, but it definitely found it's place during the shows...... Gothic is not exactly made for the mainstream crowd, much too avant garde for it...... Accessory/coats/makeup, yes I can see gothic digging it's place, but it's never going to be seen at let's say... ...Topshop, because it just wouldn't sell. Much too alternative......

the make up is not part of the trend...
just the clothing...and we'll see how long it takes to trickle down to the masses...
but as far as FASHION goes...
it's happening this fall...

I don't know about the whole makeup making the outfit thing... I just wear my regular makeup with gothy styles...

I definitely think black, sultry, dangerous looks are in. Even Elle's Agust spread of Jessica Simpson featured her entirely in black (stunning BTW.) It will probably be next fall that the chain stores market "GOTHIC".

I really think that if enough trend-driven stores (Gadzooks, Deb, Wet Seal, RUE 21) would push the gothic look, it would take off for the 11-19 set. Remember the Avril Lavigne-esque punk? Six months ago, walking into Gadzooks was like fake leather and metal all over the place. I was just in there a few days ago, and now it looks like Sienna Miller without a credit card. Stores that, unlike Abercrombie or Gap, don't have a constant image, can change their whole store's look each season by changing the merchandise. Just picture them carrying the gothic stuff... frightening....

Personally, I have always loved black and goth inspired looks ( Spike ), but with all of the recent eye popping color, found myself wearing things that I didn't exactly like. This fall/winter my wardrobe is going to sing to a darker tune...

Yes, I've really gotta agree with Prep , color was nice for a while but I didn't realize just how much I missed black until it was all over the fall runways. It was so refreshing after seasons of color and printed excess.....

I don't really think it's new look. Romantic gothic / victorian/ edwardian it's been aroudn for ever. It's a new trend for fall, but not a new look.
