I'm a former goth. I can't wait for fall. I actually want it to come. I thought summer's boho look was quite boring, and the layers and darkness is very appealing to me.

Lace and ruffles=

^ that boudicca collection was my *favorite* of the season. i think its a perfect example of the "new" (neo...though i hate that word... why is it that the word "neo" now seems so old? ) goth... its dark and heavy, but simple at the same time... i want some boudicca so bad

I love the Aquascutum look you posted Spike....

Personnally, I am not too crazy about the Bouddica collection, it's too Matrix-y for my taste........ I prefer a more dramatic and feminine version of goth, if that makes any sense......

I like this idea of Gothic in an entirely different color palette, like light grey. That could go a long way toward involving me in it a little.

well if you were to break the collection down, and sort of analyse it just a tad there were alot of romantic pieces there. like with the lacey stuff and there were some great puff sleeved jackets. But I think the newness of it really is in regard to shapes. I've noticed this sort of 40's/50's silhouette alot lately with the Goth vibe.

Actually I tend to enjoy the contrast of a more structured silhouette with the heaviness. I don't like that bag-like silhouette often synonymous with Goth. It's like Blade Runner meets Siouxsie or something.

while the term 'gothic' often makes me cringe because the look seems to be inundated with teenagers who really play it up and exhibit an attitude that's really quite repellent, i think the look of all black, a 'gothic' look, is really elegant if done subtley and sparingly. wearing black clothes with ripped-up fishnets and 3 pounds of black eyeliner does not a goth make...it is romantic, it is subtle, and it doesn't even have to be all black. i've seen some beautiful outfits that could be classified as 'gothic' that were predominantly white, or at least partly white, and they were exquisite! this is a look that has a lot of cultural and societal reference (the siouxsie/robert smith look) but it's really about so much more than that.

i think it 'does a goth make'...

i think 'goth' and gothic are not the same thing...
at least not in my vernacular...

i am SO not a 'goth'...and i'm NOT into that stuff...

softgrey, i totally agree..i was just trying to make a distinction between what some like to refer to as 'mall-goth' which, i agree, is not the same thing as 'gothic,' but some still consider to be in the same vein, if you will.

Actually you would be right. Sorry if that sounded a bit contradictory. But what I meant is this sort of juxtopostion of all that loveliness of traditional Gothic(in your words ) with a more structured silhouette like with Boudicca. No,I really don't like the slickness but I love the shapes and some of the elements there.

no...i don't think you sounded contradictory at all...
it just occurred to me that this was something that seemed to match your general aesthetic very well from what i can tell...

i am thinking of messing around in my closet to put together some looks..
but i am missing some more lacy victorian-style blouses and i need more grey...
preferably a grey VEST!!!....in velvet or leather...now i'm on the hunt!!!..
i think i will hit the thrift stores and see what there is to see...
