thanks so much for taking the time to post these...

*love the vuitton dress...
i think there are many great examples of this look in that beautiful collection...

Thank you softgrey!

And I totally agree about the Vuitton collection. The textures, the colors, the romanticism of it...especially the mix of fabrics in one piece.

A few of my favorite looks....

I love the color of this dress on Carmen.......

and while this one isn't black, i find it still reeks of goth. i shouldn't say 'reeks...' i think it's beautiful! i love the layers and the sleeves..the color is amazing.
I love those dresses. I'm very happy to see gothic on the runway. Very pretty

mall goths are horrible, but the expensive gothic look, yes please. i'm never going to tire of dark elegance. it's great.

i really dont see the connection of gothic with most of the pictures posted here..
gothic/empire line/dark/black/'rockqueen' seem melting all in one, victorian/turn-of-the century included..

trendwise its a bit confusing but i can surely observe a strong need for something dark, romantic, beaten up and 'detailed'

Softie, you're right about that! Although, personally I'd be rather hesitant to proclaim myself as such, you know

You know Bruno Pieters had a very strong collection this season with loads of elements that could be percieved as Gothic. As well as Preen.

Here's some Bruno-I mean these are clothes that I could see a contemporary Jane Eyre wearing. Or Bronte herself.

very very nice scott...
this is very much what i have in mind...
all the elements of the past...
but twisted and deconstructed and draped to make it modern...

a mix of many eras and styles to come up with a new variation on a classic theme..
so you can't say...
'oh that's edwardian' or 'oh that's victorian'...oh that's 80's...blah blah blah
**that's what's modern IMO...mixing, rather than 'literal' interpretations...
the 'rules' of the past need not apply...
that's what we are seeeing that looks 'fresh' and cool...and 'of the moment'
taking all the elements we love from the past and bringing them into this century...
a 'collage' of eras, if you will...

preen is another really strong example...

i think we have finally come upon something 'new' and modern in fashion...
i find it soo very exciting...it feels like the next generation is finally finding it's voice...
it's a little dark...(which is think is appropriate)
but it's still hopeful and romantic...

thx for the pics scott...
*modern day jane eyre indeed...

I cannot agree with you more

Yeah because,if you look at alot of the designers over the recent years none have never had the literal connotations of what we typically percieve as Gothic. I most certainly agree that it's the twists of all sorts of things that make the style so much more refreshing...and interesting.

I thought Tuleh FW 05 was a more of a less formal approach to the gothic/victorian look. It wasn't all black, but it was what I thought of because its the way my self-proclaimed "goth" friends dress.

hmmm...thx idiotgirl (odd name -btw)

i think that the tuleh stuff actually looks very stiff and 'old-fashioned'...
not modern or 'cool' at all......

just my opinion though...

it's funny..because over the years people keep caling everything black 'gothic'...and that always really bugged me...

this is the first time that i have felt like the word is being used properly...
where it doesn't relate to the stereotypical mall 'goth' kids...but really embraces what i call 'gothic'...

^ Neither am I. I see darker shades, grey, black. More like late 80's.

Not gothic as in panda-eyed kids or romanticism.
