I was reading "The Devil Wears Prada" and on the first day the main character, who is at this time not knowledgeable about fashion. She implies that there is something very wrong with this look. Is this a rule I don't know about?

The rule you don't know about is that reading silly books can impair your judgement
it's not very 'vogue'...while they would show it on their pages...could you see anna wearing a pr of boots at all?...it's just not considered proper office attire...
but there's nothing 'wrong' with it...
faust is funny...
