Pencil skirts S/S 06
a bit of 40s influence here and there.... pencil skirts are so refreshing to see after all those voluminous flouncy skirt..... much more dramatic in my opinion. Notice they differ from the regular pencil skirt because it hits a bit above the waist.....

Those are the most flattering skirts I've seen in a long time. They're really gorgeous. Do you think they're too sophisticated for a 15 year old, though?

gah! I love these shapes but find them very very difficult to pull off. Still beautiful though. Thanks for the topic Kim

i love pencil and trumpet skirts... i wear them a lot for work. pencils can be tough to walk in though... so be sure the slit in the back allows for you to walk. trumpets are easier to walk in but still a bit confining. but they instantly dress up an outfit.

love love love roland mouret

i agree meg...
not the most practical article of clothing...
it's like having your knees tied together and then trying to balance on your toes and run...
i guess it could be good for those 'ladies who lunch'...
do we still have those??...
but it could be ok for a party i guess where you can just sit or stand there and look pretty...

**but i do think that this goes in conjunction with the VOLUME trend...

notice how there is often a more voluminous top paired with a narrow bottom and vice versa...
this balances out the silhouette and keeps you from losing your shape altogether...

My boyfriend likes me in this look

Aesthetically it's beautiful, but it sure does tire you out when you're just trying to get from A to B in a day, everything you do has to be thought about in advance...I've worn them without a long enough split at the back and it's been hell all day! Will I manage to get up that step? Can I get on the bus? Can I get in the cab? It's exhausting just walking down the street! And you can forget about going anywhere in a hurry...but with a blouse tucked in and a big belt they just look so smart (and sexy)

love them, but they need to be just over the knee so one can be able to move/walk/run well .. which is to say, regardless how much i love Mouret i find his lengths a bit off ..

there are ways of having a pencil skirt cut that is totally easy to stride in, it just needs a good pattern an the right length
personally i've been planing wearing them for fw05.06, after all i had them in my fw line

great thread kimkhuu

I am really loving this trend a hell lot...... though I would NEVER on earth those skirts..... not really my style.... but they are just GORGEOUS! It's funny how i never really thought how hard it might be to walk in those..... it must be quite scary then...... but i think pencil skirts are more flattering on taller bodies (yes it is unfair........ ..!).......
