comparing to the first russian folk/propaganda "wave" for years, i like those much better, specially black and white versions, thanks Lena and stilista
thanks for the thread, lena!!. as i said, i was a bit confused about what exactly the trend was but now that i see, it's just lovely, i'd take off the use of fur but totally keep the prints, the floral coats..along with the high-waisted skirts
that kenzo collection is one of my favorites for winter, i cant enough of these dresses..
How would any of you describe what Russian style is exactly? Would you say that it's embroidered? Eclectic? Bohemian? I'm at a loss to describe it and what encompasses Russian style exactly.

The thread is about Russian folklore style, not Russian style, so that kind of narrows it down. Embroidery (especially flowers and different kinds of patterns), peasant, boho, light color palette, full long skirts, etc...
Maybe that's my fault for posting such dark colours This is what I think of as Russian Folklore style, as it's like the clothes the nesting dolls wore and the pictures in my 'Babushka' books as a child.
guys, this is widely called 'russian inspired chic' or babushka chic worldwide, its a trend based on a folk mood of russia/eastern europe and there is no question about it..
its a trem used by the industry, mainly wholesale/retail people and print houses.. it is the Russian style and if you go back to read reviews from the fw05.06 collections, everyone is talking RUSSIA .. so cool it down and enjoy it

they can talk all they want, Lena, just because a bunch of westerns decided to call it Russian and put the buzz-word in the magz, doesn't make it so.
but yes, it can be seen as a very loose enterpretation, with a strain .
I know, but i love his ethnic references anyway. he did try a men's version, which would be "dedushka", but that was also pretty far from anything Russian. although I kind of like the idea and some looks are very good interpretations.
