Sculptural Collars F/W 08.09
I've always loved a dramatic, interesting collar. It seems like many designers are seeking to create a feeling of protection and isolation, but while they send out a message of don't touch, they draw attention to the face of the wearer.

Some of these looks have an almost religious feel to them, very ecclesiastic.

Donna Karan

good spotting (as always) spike

cold weather certainly begs for a dramatic and interesting collar and i think you've chosen a lot of great examples here..

the collar is such a great way to alter basic winter coats and make them unique and interesting..
definitely well done this season imo

Out of all the collections thus far, the olnly pieces which have beeged me to leave a place for them in my winter budget were those jackets from Jil Sander.

I LOVE the sculptured collar. They are usually too rare, or far too expensive to find until now (hopefully).

I bet Zara will have a load of these types

great trendspotting

i love this. it adds interest to a piece yet it isn't overwhelming. simple yet sophisticated.

I LOVE that first Margiela.

Actually, I kind of love that whole look. Big shoulders, weird lapel, bare neck, no pants.

Good stuff Inaya.

One of my favs also I love how it's such an elaborate collar, yet it leaves an alluring amount of skin revealed.

Triangular necks and shoulders F/W 08.09
The high neck which slopes down towards the shoulder to create a triangle. It has the effect of a scarf, it warms the neck, elegantly shapes the shoulder and gives a very unusual silhouette.
