I'm sure you're quite right, however a lot of designers refer to them as a shoe boot, ie:

Christian Louboutin http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/33440

Jimmy Choo: http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/33893

Miu Miu: http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/33519

I guess we can safely say that both terms are commonly used?

Somebody had referred to them as ankle boots. Yes a lot of people may call them ankle boots too, but strictly speaking, a 'shoe boot' has a lower cut than an ankle boot. Hope that info helps!

I guess I refer to them as ankle boots nowadays. When I was in like 3rd grade I had a lot of shoes that looked like boots in style and material that had laces and came up just past my ankle, but lacked the high heel. Not quite so stylish.

Strictly speaking, an oxford shoe has laces in the front. If they don't, I guess "shoe boot" could be an adequate term.

These are my favorite oxfords:

I love this style too! I call them oxfords really, cos they aren't much like "boots" to me. I got mine from Nine West. Not too high (2.5 inches), so I can wear them dancing!

I just bought a pair this weekend, I think they're cute. Booties, shoe boots, ankle boots, oxfords...whatever they may be called
