Shoe trends F/W 05.06
So I've seen from the Fall Must haves thread that a lot of people are saying black flat pointy boots will be in for Fall 05.

I'm curious as to what you all think will be in for the following Fall season?

Do you think wedge heels will still be around? Will flats still be popular?

And what about details? Or evening footwear for that matter?

i hope they stay, coz i wanna get a pair of wedge boots (a la balenciaga)
but i have a feeling that they probably wont.
not a lot of ppl are into wedges and the wedge trend usually comes and goes pretty quickly.

I think you're right cloud9 . . . the wedge trend does seem to come and go pretty quickly but they're so comfortable and still give the additional height so hopefully they'll stay for a while . . .

I think that flats will continue to be popular, but have no idea which direction things will go in terms of round/pointy/square toe etc.

I agree with Pucci Mama, after seasons of flats, espadrilles and wedges I see a return to the stiletto.

Yes the return to the mother of all shoes, that's the only direction I'm headed. More detail oriented, more lush materials, fall/winter will be muted tones with pops here and there, spring/summer will pop totally. Quality with a bit of an avant garde twist, but there will always be the classic.

*i see more flats and mid hight heels ..but no stilettos yet, they seem off tune with all fashion trends at the moment
*more kinky ankle boots with 'chunky' 20's 30's kind of heels
*slightly rounded square-ish toes a-la 'early 60's' (attention no duck squares)
*lace ups galore with a victorian/turn of the century feeling
*luxury materials for evening (see velvet, embroideries etc)
*abstractism a-la Camper (mismatching details on the same pair)
*maryjanes and T-shraps should go on..

main 'luxury' thing should be exclusivity via 'limited editions'
and i dont think we'll seen the end of wedges yet ,
shoes trends move less fast than garments

thanks lena - I hope you are correct because I love all the things you mentioned and I really am not a fan of stilettos.

Heels are getting thicker, shoes are looking heavier and less delicate as time goes on. It does take people a while to get to new shapes, sometimes as long as 18 months to a year, you might change your mind in the future.

Of course stilettos always remain for some people but we are talking trends here and the trend is for much chunkier.

Wedges are not going away.

I'm definitely feeling these... especially the swing era shoe with a more substantial heel, t-straps, etc. also lace-up victorian boots. I personally will be wearing these types of shoe when I can pull myself away from my ballet flats.
generally, it seems like the trends for shoes are going in a 'theatrical' direction. some of the styles are reminding me a lot of the character shoes that my actor friends wear.

I agree!!

Ankle boots (see Kate Moss) will grow in popularity and wedges will remain popular.

I also think flat/slouchy boots will remain popular.

Those are going to be HUGE.... Boots are clearly making a return... And they're sort of becoming a staple... ...even in the summer time. Very chic boots that hit just above the ankle......
