i keep seeing a lot of fabrics with mixed fibres, ie silk with cotton, polyamide with cotton
etc...
Do you think its going to be another dress season? I do, and a jacket season as well?
what are your thoughts?
Personally, I think we're due for a return to separates. Jackets, skirts, pants, shorts, tops, maybe even vests. I think the focus will start to shift from dresses back to full outfits.
With the fall shows things seemed to focus on a whole look, rather than just one piece.

this makes total sense...
especially with the return of pants as a strong trend...
good call...

gius, I think it could be taken either way. Obviously with separates you have a lot of room to customize and build certain pieces into your wardrobe, but in the case of runway, separates can also influence entire outfits.
I hope that makes sense.

agree the separates, I read somewhere I can't remember where that we were moving torwards separates, that the dress won't be as important in our wardrobe as it has been for last seasons
is only normal to move towards anything but the by now overkilled dress and the soft/girly trends
ecological fibers/textiles will co-exist with fresh clever light innovative synthetics
the idea is not thisversusthat, but freedom from boring cliches and creative co-existance
the inevitable fresh caricature of formality will be interesting for the older customer but not much use to the young market which keeps enjoying the much applauded 'give me something my mom wont be able to wear' rebellion
Lena i agree with you about formality for the older customer, I believe it will transpose in the guise of androgeny...
The younger market will take their inspiration from the likes of Agyness Deyn which allows creativy in dressing.

I absolutely agree, I think dresses are "over," and not a moment too soon (I am all about separates.)

I was watching Agyness in Paris for Reebok on vogue.co.uk and her current style was the early Madonna period - that sort of super casual, super cool, oh so extremely eighties style - leather jacket, messy hair with rags tied in it. Further revival of the eighties?
I think we are heading to a time with a more cleaned up look..
it doesn't necessarly mean that it will be boring but with the slimmer siluette coming our way I believe we will be seeing lots of basics paired with something that really stands out, like these kinds of outfits
a simple white dress paired with an attentiongrabbing printed jacket
Proenza Schouler, style
i also imagine many neutral and light colours, very light and even more of sheer textiles, layered skirts
and some unusual ways of wearing clothes, similar to wearing a sweater as a skirt and something like that. like v.westwood collection this spring, but even more of that i think can be seen next summer
and also fierce, strong and very sexy women in latex? i think latex should be getting bigger and seen more often
I couldnt agree with you more. i have seen several textile mills showing fabrics for next summer, there are lots of jacquard and surface interest fabrics too.... and i see quite a few big shapes for next spring in feathery light fabrics but oversized in garment forms.
