Trend Forecast S/S 09
thoughts? ideas? carry throughs?
as i still see blouson-y and baby doll tops this season, i see fall moving more into an opposite silhouette, as though the babydoll is turned upside down...and i think this will carry into spring...
that mixed with the fitted womanly sihouettes of the early 90's....
but what else? discuss :p

40s A line dresses , A line skirts , more girly looks but sexy, YSL resurrected the trend it will be copied thats for sure . Transformer print dresses and tops , baby tshirts , more fitted tops . Dropped waist dhoti pants . High waist pants and jeans trend continues to grow. I smell a return of the gunne saxe and provencials look .

fabrics colours and trends for spring 09!
I know its a bit early to start thinking about this, what with all the autumn 08 shows just finishing, but does anyone have any feel for what fabrics will be big in SPring 09.
I was at Premiere Vision, and i saw tons of washed cottons with surface interest and textures, and lots of parachute type fabrics in nylons work not just as outerwear but in shirt and dress weights too..
Cloths were light and feathery and colours were very exaggerated!
anyone else have any clues yet?

only synthetics feelings from me either synthetics themselves or naturals made to look so through coatings, finishings... There was a sleeveless at Marni, 100% cotton voile, but with the addition of a high gloss finish and so looked totally synthetic

what are washed cottons?
cottons washed over and over and over?
because cotton clothes gets washed during laundry time anyway... what is the point of it before buying...

Hi Gius,
I agree with you about synthetics being really big... But I have a feel for cottons as well.. When I say washed, I mean washed at the mill, so they dont look flat, they look like they have come out of the dryer without being ironed...
Does that make sense to you?

oh like wrinkled?
like crêpe fabric perhaps? Or cloqué fabrics that have two fibers, one shrinks and the other doesn't. Like in seersucker, some of the stripes are wrinkly while the rest aren't...

Actually that is a good point
I remember going to the stores here and I saw so much wrinkled fabrics
and in the tags they say 100% cotton (I always check, LoL)
I wonder if the wrinkles wash out in the wash...

this could be a metal mix

TAO by comme des garcons FW 08

these 2 are probably wool
but the frayed edges & loose threads in the ruffles will become more textured after washing

For some reason I see light multicolored tulle being big for spring 09, and Jersey always seem to be a trend.

if it's "always" though, it can't be a trend ^

i see what you mean by tulle
and this washed cottons in the photos ^^
it's like... rough and raw

to go against the sleekness in the rise of technical fabrics !

I think its all about different textures in the same fabric, thats why jacquards will be strong, and raised effects.. And this is about the natural look, which is a polarity to the tecno looks....
fabrics will be very light and "airy" very strong trend at PV.

i'm thinking a lot of eco-friendly fabrics being used in more innovative designs with such a big enviornmental movement in fashion lately
