i don't mind most trends so long as the person is wearing it because THEY actually like it, and look comfortable in it, and it actually suits and FLATTERS them.

my exceptions to this rule though (ie trends i don't like AT ALL):
*american flag print cropped tees
*cambridge co. satchels. they have been around for a while but in aus uni break has been on since mid june. the semester just started back at uni this week and they (and rip off versions) were everywhere!!

Recently I can't stand the "hipster" style anymore... Not because it is ugly, it is often kinda cute and cool actually, but please stop to try to look oh-so-alternative when you're more mainstream than a guy dressed in H&M head to toe.

I also don't understand the "vintage style", I mean new stuff called vintage style (see Urban Outfitters): or it is vintage or is not, I totally don't get this in-between concept and all the hype around it

Ops, apparently I have a problem with alternative/intellectual-chic-wannabe cultures :-p (that are as alternative as the Zara blouse I'm wearing in this moment)

^ this irritates me too. there is no such thing as vintage 'style'. vintage is not an era. people seem to think anything with ugly florals is vintage, and chain stores use that to sell it to naive teens.

I used to like vintage, and it makes sense to recycle and all that, but sometimes I feel that it is done for the sake of fitting in. I have seen some dreadful ensembles passing as vintage, absolutely terrifying frocks, shoes and accessories. I also don't understand why something from the 1980's ought to cost so much either, especially some polyester secretary dress that even my grandmother wouldn't have worn the first time around. Vintage stores must be having a field day ripping the less experienced folks off. I feel bad saying this, and I do have a lot of friends who love vintage, but the trend itself is starting to feel contrived. And this is a shame, because in theory it ought to be great. I guess it's like everything else: when a subculture or fad takes off to mainstream levels it always causes this weird kickback. It makes us uncomfortable, I guess, and I can't work out why.

I'm so darn sick of seeing girls wearing 6" platform heels everywhere. Every girl downtown has a pair on. Blegh!

Bad: Harem pants reminds me of Aladdin
Worse: If worn by men
Worst: If seen worn by Eminem

I also dislike cargo pants, black and shiny leggings, and oversized sneakers worn with skinny jeans.

Mismatching buttons. What is the logic behind this?
Chain bling. It has become absolutely tasteless. The 2000s are over.
Granny boots. Good LORD they're grossly unflattering.
Sailor shoes. They are so preppy and ridiculous.
Nerd glasses. I find it extremely hard to take anyone seriously when they're wearing these.
Sneakers with formal suits/dresses. There is nothing creative or "rebellious" about this.
Mismatching shoe laces. I find it hard not to laugh when I see this. It's so childish.
Dresses worn on top of jeans. Either get the legs to wear dresses or make up your mind.

WHITE PANTS. This trend actually irritates me on a psychological level. Men, women, children, cats, aliens; it doesn't matter who it is, white pants are BIG no-no. Every time I see them I can't help imagine either urine or period stains over them.... sorry.
