Wedges S/S 06
I personally do not like wedges and they seem to be everywhere. I like the style of some of the shoes, but they are wedges, blahhhh....

Absolutely depends on the wedge. There are some stunning ones and there are some hideous ones.

I like them. They are comfortable while still managing to give you the height benefits of heels. Of course, there are some hideous ones, but most are great.

I used to think they were so cheap and tacky looking but some nice ones came out for S/S 05 - it was a wedgetastic summer really.

Reminds me of the Spice Girls. Some of them might look good when you look at them, but when you see somebody wearing them, I think the magic is gone.

I'm quite liking the demi-wedge. Not so ridiculous looking and still gives you height with comfort.

i really don't like wedges. Almost always hideous.
I think they look cheap, and are not flattering in a silhouet.
It's something you wear when you can't walk heels...

wedges
wedges just aren't elegant! and far too often they're covered in hessian or something else that i'd usually associate with sacks!!

stilettos all the way baby

These are my brown leather and brocade wedges. I've managed to wear them for summer and winter coz of the brocade. The wedge is very nipped in so they're not really clunky.

Ah well...just wanted to share a bit of my wedgetastic-ness.

Wedges rule if you are short and need comfortable shoes. The best wedges I ever owned were a pair of Charles Jourdan cerca 1990 faux crocodile harness brown wedges with about a 3 inch heel. The wedge was a soft brown leather. I wore them to a lengthy death by shabbiness. Wedges don't seem to hurt the metatarsil as much as killer heels.

I was married in a pair of black suede wedges I bought in the market in Kingston, Jamaica. They were the only grown up shoes that I found to fit my size 5 and half foot. They were cheap shoes- market shoes- but their low-end made in Brazil minimalism somehow worked with the rest of the wedding outfit and the surroundings. They looked good on brown legs in that diffused light of the Caribbean during mango season. A wedge is a good shoe for places like Kingston where heat and sweat and grime need all the elevation one can muster.

Once in Havana- a city where insouciant style is truly appreciated, I ruined a pair of emerald green wedges with a wrap around ankle strap lined in bronze while running through the muddy puddles of first aguacero of May. The streets smelled of wet cement and nostalgia.
