Just my opinion,i think Indian celebrities and Middle Eastern celebrities often wear colorful make up that's the reason why it's more noticeable.
But is it really important?
Maybe she likes it,and it works for her so why not?
But i also think you are right she should sometimes try a more natural look.

I agree with Gincat, especially on the amount of make up Aishwarya wears and that it is definitely not a reflection on the culture.

However I have noticed that quite a few Indian actresses do favour a more heavily made up face, even though they probably could look just as good or better with a more natural look. Aishwarya is the prime example of this, Sushmita Sen is another possible example.

Anyway, I like seeing the family pictures, especially the last one.

^I agree the middle part looks great.

She looks really nice here for the Raavan music launch, best she has looked in a while at an event.

I think she looks great when she's wearing traditional indian clothes but her hollywood and street style are not good.
Gorgeous women often have bad or boring style(Aishwarya,Monica Bellucci,Catherine Zeta Jones..).
I think Brigitte Bardot was the only one stunning woman who had nice style. And she is from the 50's,60's!!

No, you're right, it's not really important, but what is in this thread? It's just commentary on a celebrity's clothing and make up, and I was just stating my own thoughts on a public message board like we are all doing. Thanks for posting the pics, though. I really like the one looking through the fence (I just wish it wasn't there obscuring her face).

She's got an incredibly beautiful face (way too much makeup though, it's sad because she'd look great with a more natural look), sure- but I can't really say she's got style, or taste of any kind.

Like liaa says, conventionally-gorgeous women (or those who are pretty right from childhood/puberty and never have to go through an 'ugly' phase) often have no real style to speak of*. I think it's because it's too easy for them- if you're already pretty, there's no challenge involved, no process of really trying to discover your own style or your own means of expression through style. No real awkwardness, or actual struggle to discover what you- and not the fashion magazines of the day- really like. No need for imagination, or even personal taste, to come into play because when you're young it all looks nice.

AR is pretty even with those hideous 80s hairdos, but I can't say that her style has even been or developed into anything compelling- or even interesting. And the media has been following her every move for the last almost 20 years, her clothes/style has been boring throughout- except when she's in Indian clothes (the relatively more traditional kind, that is- i.e. not see through, not excessively bejewelled etc)

I'm sorry this turned into a rant, haha.

* obviously, there are exceptions. Marianne Faithfull, Jean Seberg, Catherine Deneuve in the 50s and 60s, and people like Daphne Guinness, Agyness Deyn (yeah I know her style is a bit hackneyed but the girl has an incredibly pretty face if you look at it) and Louise Ebel now.
