I agree totally adorable in Paris, the beanie is really cute on her, and so jealous of her Louboutin shopping spree, hope she got those red oxfords love them. And very impressed with the Chanel ad, she looks great very chic.

So adorable. What a lucky girl! What I like about her is that she always looks like she's really enjoying herself and she just seems fun. She acts the way anyone would if they got the chance to meet so of those people. It may not last but she looks like she's having a ball atm.

I think the Chanel ad turned out great; really like it.

Love her beanie, its so cute. Its awesome to be so young and be in her position, imagine meeting all these artistic talented people? And to top it off, be financially stable(one would think)? I don't there is one person on this board, or alive, that would not love the opportunities she is getting.

I actually like the campaign shot. It works!
It reminds me of her shoot with Interview magazine.

And I LOVE those red oxfords she's touching in the shoe shopping pics!!
MUST HAVE THEM!

That coat is really frumpy, it gives her lumps when she doesn't have any. The ad is great, her posture reminds me of those early 2000s Paradis campaign.

Agree. And the campaign and her latest two Chanel outfits have not changed my mind at all. There's something wrong when she makes me dislike dresses, I liked on the runway.

I like the Chanel ad, but it screams 'va va voom!' which I don't associate with Chanel, in any of its incarnations, at all. Whoever posted upthread that she's more an A&F or Versace girl were right. Blake may be feminine and modern, but her style is more Marilyn Monroe rather than Jackie Kennedy.

I don't know if anybody here reads InStyle, but the US March 2011 issue, has another endorsement for her from Lanvin who says "Women are powerful; their strength is internal. They need a wardrobe that lets them be themselves instead of what some designer thinks they should be. That's why there is a return to practical clothes, and when I say that, I don't mean boring. Just look at Blake Lively, who likes gowns she can strut in. That is pragmatism at work." (197) (The article includes a picture of Blake awkwardly holding a gown with a split up the center.)

If that wasn't enough, last month, in the Feb 2011 of the US InStyle, there was a interview with Michael Kors who was asked about his favorite fashion icons and he named Blake as one of them, with these words: "Dressing a quintessially California girl can be difficult. But Blake gets it; she always chooses audacious yet keeps it simple." (100) (The picture accompanying is better: Blake is in a strapless orange cocktail dress with nude pumps.)

I think Kors nails Blake's style but I think he overcredits her. Lanvin seemed to be just namedropping. I like Blake's California girl style, but she hasn't put her own unique stamp on it. It's all over the place. Also, even though it's been said before, it always bears saying again: she never seems to be properly fitted in her gowns.

Well, some of Claudia Schiffer's many campaigns for Chanel over the years could have been for Victoria's Secret!!

Interesting. I don't really pay attention to the advertising (I'm more interested in how the clothes translate off the runway in real life, than an airbrushed, photoshopped, glossy ad), so I'm shocked to learn it's leans towards the racy end. (I'm fine with that, but I wouldn't have expected it from Chanel. Gucci, yes. Chanel I've always thought of as more refined though.)

Sorry to rain on your parade, but she does look absolutely commonplace to me. I see girls prettier than her (face wise) on the Tube every other day. Squinty eyes, thin lips and the lineaments of her face taken together don't tantamount to beauty or even prettiness in my book. I'll say this much for her - she looks modelesque without looking unhealthy, but neither her face nor her style is anything spectacular. That's my opinion which I'm entitled to voice, and if you've got a problem with that, may I suggest you keep it to yourself?

I won't get into the irony of calling Blake commonplace but liking models such as Sigrid

Anyway, I don't exactly know why all these designers love her but from interviews I have seen with her, she seems incredibly sweet and grounded. She's not an ethereal beauty or extremely talented but she has an air of sophistication and maturity imo. She carries herself well and seems to be a person of good character. I don't know, there are worse people out there who could be getting all these opportunities.

Her fashion choices aren't really my taste but she has an achievable, girly style that I think appeals to a lot of young girls. She doesn't have to be daring or different to have great style. If Anna Wintour, Christian Louboutin and Karl Lagerfeld love her as much as they do then there must be something special about her.

What seems ironic to you seems obvious to me. I know there's no accounting for taste, but I do take exception when my opinions are contested. I don't go about specifically quoting others who find her gorgeous and contradict their opinions, do I? Blake doesn't look exotic like someone like say Monica Bellucci or Angelina Jolie; she isn't conventionally pretty like Doutzen or Toni or Candice and she isn't sultry in the mould of Adriana Lima or Laeticia Casta. Hers is a flawed face, and these flaws don't so much enhance her appeal than substantiate the ordinariness unlike someone like Jolie. I wouldn't want to go into why I like Sigrid here, as that'd be an off-topic discussion. Blake can sometimes nail looks like nobody's business, but it's often a miss than a hit. She just isn't my cuppa, and if asked whether I'd want to look like her or dress like her, my answer would be an emphatic no. I'd appreciate if people accept this and move on rather than try to foist their own opinions on me. And before someone can say "oh, but if you don't like her, stay away from her thread", I'd like to point out that fans don't enjoy exclusive readership to threads.
