Congrats to Carey on getting the Daisy role. That Chanel dress looks great on her although I wish she had chosen a different pair of shoes for it but she looks really pretty .

Michelle Williams is much more in line with who I'd pick to play Daisy Buchanan. She has both the looks and that delicate fragility.

It's a joke that Lively was even considered for the part.
sometimes I think acting/the way the character is presented by the actor is more important than looks. For something like a Twilight film I think sticking close to the 'image' of the character is important but with literary pieces like this I think the way an actor portrays the character is what 'makes' them the character

I have a feeling Carey will be pretty amazing

If you worked at the airport and saw her amazing Prada bag on the tray, would you steal it?

I totally agree, her face doesn't have the delicate features to play Daisy... and she looks too mature imo.

I am shocked she got the role... really thought it would have gone to Michelle Williams or Natalie Portman... especially after her bad display of the American accent on money never sleeps. It's such a shame that they picked her because she's the "it" girl of the moment, an American actress would have done much justice to this role.

If it's a Baz Luhrman (sp?) movie it's going to be more of an interpretation of the story and characters than a faithful adaptation. I watched some clips of Mia Farrow playing the character. Beautiful, undoubtably, yet what terrible acting! I don't agree that she's being chosen because she's the it girl of the moment. There's too much money involved for it to work like that. She doesn't even have huge commercial successes behind her so she must have been picked for her performance in the casting.

Mia Farrow was so awful I agree, I do think Carey will do brilliantly in this she has a way of capturing you while on screen. I can't wait to see the styling in this, that along with Luhrmanns visuals will make this a treat to the eye even if the story fails.

I have yet to see Wall Street but from what other roles I've seen, Carey does a great American accent.

While she doesn't necessarily fit the physical description (neither does Leo, really), she's an immensely talented actress that will probably great performance regardless.

Talent should be above looks imo. If one looks the part, but is not able to act the part, it won't be believable.
