^he has directed and done the screenplay for Australia, Moulin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom and Romeo + Juliet
i've only seen the last one and did not like it... but i couldnt make an opinion about his work if i've only seen one movie he has directed.

apparently, if the movie gets made, it will be made only in 3D.

I don't think he's good.

Essentially he makes big, flashy movies that critics usually despise and that become fairly popular and overexposed. Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet (w/ Leonardo di Caprio, Claire Danes, etc) are probably his best known works

I don't have great hopes for his Great Gatsby, in spite of how much I like Carey. But then, maybe it'll pleasantly surprise me

Eddie and Carey are a CUTE couple, but also kind of obvious.
But I guess Carey has already gone the un-obvious route by dating Shia LaBeouf. :p

As for The Great Gatsby, I will watch it as long as Leo and Carey are in it.
So, hopefully if the director does get changed, those two will stay on board.

I love Baz His version of Romeo & Juliet is one of my all time favourite movies. I absolutely love the way he pulls music into film and really makes it work, and in such a fresh way. Australia was a bit 'meh' for me but I loved Strictly Ballroom, Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge. So excited to see him working with Leo again and really excited to see Carey & Leo on screen together!

Moulin Rouge is one of my all time favourites. I like the way Baz direct, there seems to be pretty much hate toward him...don´t know why. Australia was not that good, but I like setting and the way it was done. I hope The Great Gatspy will be good and I am eeeeeexcited to see Carey and Leo in same project!!!!

I guess it's just whether you love Baz or you hate him. I am a huge fan. Australia is crappy but Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge are amazing. It is true that his movies are flashy and vivid, a bit crazy, very baroque and theatrical. That's what I love about them. They are mainstream, but it doesn't mean there isn't the vision of an artist in these films.
So I hope Baz will stay on board for The Great Gatsby, I am really curious to see what he can bring to the story.

You have to remember that what Baz did with Strictly Ballroom, Romeo+Juliet & Moulin Rouge was part of his red curtain trilogy. Australia may have got a little lost but it was a completely different type of film making for him & it was beautiful to look at. That style would lend itself to The Great Gatsby brilliantly and more importantly it means Catherine Martin will be doing the costumes and as far as I'm concerned the woman is a genius and Carey will look incredible. Also, if she and Eddie are together I think it's great.

if he plans to do TGG like R&J and MR i don't want it in 3D, i get a headache from his movies without the 3D, don't want to even imagine it with it =/

i looove her as an actress, but her style in this last months has been.. not.. that good. in my opinion. before she was more different and interesting and avantgarde and now, i don't know if they are styling her more, but she doesn't seem that interesting to follow.
